I've posted about this previously:

... it's interesting to keep in mind that when it comes to the scene between Barnabas and Angelique at the end of Ep #7's 2nd Act that scene played somewhat differently on NBC than it does on the MPI VHS and the Sony DVD. There's more deep breathing in the NBC version. And, well, more of something else on the VHS/DVD.  [hall2_grin]  Check out each version:

NBC:

VHS:

Who knows why neither MPI or Sony have ever acknowledged the differences?

A couple more things with regard to Ep #7 ( Hour 8 ):

It's certainly interesting that the preview and the promos for the ep completely give away the ep's ending. The shot of Josette turning as she pulls down the hood of her cloak followed by Victoria stating "She's me" is exactly how the ep ends. One might think NBC wouldn't have wanted to spoil that, but apparently one would be wrong.

And revisiting Angelique's seduction, anyone who hasn't seen MPI's DS RESURRECTED VHS might be unaware that more was shot that didn't make it into the ep. The clips shared in reply #45 both end with Barnabas rising up and that's because there's an outtake on the VHS of footage that was shot of Barnabas lifting Angelique, carrying her to his bed, putting her down, and then moving down on her -

- but none of it was used. It may have simply been cut for time. Though given what the VHS clip shows NBC left out from what's included on the VHS version of Ep #7, perhaps NBC also felt the outtake footage was too sexy. Who knows?

Nice shot of Julia with the umbrella today. I thought that scene was well shot.

And great photos of the sequence of Barnabas with Angelique, something we never saw in any of the flashback storylines on the original series. The closest they came was in 1971(1841 PT) when Bramwell took Catherine to bed, As I recall it, they both kept all their clothes on.

Yes, I was happy with the way that screen cap turned out:

And it's yet another one of the scenes that looks very different on the DVD release because of the color timing being off:

No, we certainly never did. And we still haven't so far as canon goes for the '91 Series because it's not included in any version of the series. One can only imagine how different some aspects of the '91 Series might be if none of the material shot had been cut or if all of it had been restored in some sort of directors' cuts of the series' eps. But that's something we could never hope to happen...

Look - a "MUST" quote from the '91 Series' pilot:

...

I wonder how many others there might be...

Well, today's installment shows there's at least one other:

Ep #1 - Barnabas: 'Exactly the way it must have been
almost 200 years ago.'

Preview of Ep #8:

And here's a February 14th voiceover over the closing credits of LA Law:

And three promo from February 15th:

It's interesting how the announcers' inflections are different in each version...

And here's the opening of Ep #8 as it played on the east coast at exactly 30 years ago today:

And for a change the recap copy manages not to get anything wrong...

Enjoy!  [snow_smiley]

If you've paid attention to NBC's recap of Ep #7 ( Hour 8 ), you no doubt spotted something that was never actually seen in NBC's version of Ep #7. Yes, that's right, the start of the panning down to reveal Angelique's heaving breast while she was seducing Barnabas:

Though thank heavens even NBC's recap cut away before the actual heaving began because no doubt otherwise all of us would have been irreparably scarred for life.  [snow_rolleyes]  Though the real thanks go to MPI for having had no such qualms.  [snow_wink]

We had so much spoofing the 1790 story in Victoria Winters' Bogus Journey.

[pointing-up]  Unfortunately I missed that because I didn't attend the '91 NYC Fest, but I heard many great things about it.  [snow_cheesy]

A lot of people missed that festival since it was Thanksgiving weekend. A masterpiece of scheduling.

I was just checking the preview for Ep #7, looking for something else, and noticed that what's even more interesting about the recap showing more for that ep than was shown in the actual ep is that in the preview for Ep #7 and the February 8th promo (both in reply #44) the sequence is cut off at the same point that it is in the ep. If no one at NBC saw the recap until it aired on February15th, I wonder if heads rolled because it dared to show more?  [snow_wink]  Though probably not because, as I pointed out, thank heavens none of the actual heaving of Angelique's breast was shown - we were all spared such shocking salaciousness on US TV.  [snow_rolleyes]

I miss the good old days when Dark Shadows didn't have any bosoms.

Well, as far as the TV versions of the show, there still aren't any because, while material was shot for the '91 Series, it wasn't included in what was actually broadcast on NBC. The WB pilot may have had more than the currently circulated version does because originally there was more to the scene between Carolyn and Joe on his boat, but I don't honestly remember how the missing material was shot.

But when it comes to DS movies, NoDS sctually had a lot more than the 2012 version did - especially the R-rated version...
