It was announced today on Grayson's F-b-k page that Sam and Matt Hall have had to cancel at the last minute, as Sam is unwell.

I hope the event is a success for all involved.

That's really too bad - especially considering they could have given some great insight into how the '91 series was written - as well as how much "fun" it might have been to do battle with DC.

according to the FB page Marie Wallace also had to bow out due to a "family emergency".

Unfortunately, Roy Thinnes broke his hip.  He is obviously, unable to travel.  Get Better Roy!

That's awful about Roy Thinnes. Hard times at Collinwood.  Prayers for healing all around!

Yes, it truly has been a hard time for the DS Casts:  Elly was so excited to come, but her mother died about 3 weeks ago.  Condolences to her and her family.

So, no reports as to how the weekend went?

I would hope to hear something soon but I suspect there were several cast member no shows.

I had a fantastic time. For once, we had time to get together with friends. It reminded me of the first Festival. That one had no actor guests, and Ron Sproat was the only personal from the technical end who attended. It was great to see Donna Wandrey again and Sharon Smyth was her usual vibrant self.

I enjoyed Curse of the Full Moon, the fan video produced by Spencer Productions, very much. I'd seen it at one of the Newport events, but I'd fallen asleep due to the lateness of the hour, so I missed much of it. 

I had a great time poking around the grounds and hanging out with friends. I was disappointed about the no-shows on the part of the actors, but they were all understandable situations.

I got home yesterday from Tarrytown.  It was a wonderful weekend and a great gathering! Yes it was a small scale event with a few canceled guest but everyone was happy to be there and enjoyed the intimacy of the weekend.  Sharon was so lovely and social all weekend.  Donna came on Sunday and Chip Coffey was there both days.  He is a very sweet man.  Considering how blazing hot it was both days, I think everyone, guest and fans had a great time. 
 
This event was so well run and run by fans which I think made the difference. I absolutely would attend another.

It sounds lovely.  I guess only the woman who played the nurse in the 1991 series managed to attend from that group?

That's true, Gothick. Joanne Dorian had never attended any sort of fan event before and had no idea of what to expect. She is a lovely person and really had a good time.

Several of the celebrities who could not attend were gracious enough to send signed pictures that were available for purchase. These nice people were Jim Fyfe, Roy Thinness, Rebecca Staab, Appollo Dukakis and Monica Rich.

Jim Fyfe also had a skyped video greeting which was recorded for the event.  He was really disappointed about his scheduling conflict.  I purchased one of those cute t-shirts Sharon was selling.

I think this event ran so well because it was run by fans and many of the volunteers have been going to these things for years so they know what works and what doesn't.  It is comforting to know that if the "traditional" fest as we all have attended cease to exist for any reason that someone else can take the wheels successfully.
