Well, for overall characters and time spent on DS, I'd have to go with RD's body of work. Truly frightening!


However, if we're talking about one single role, well, hands down in my estimation the "honor" would have to go to:
Jebez "Cheap, Insufferable Pig" Hawkes!

(But after Jeb, CP turns in some truly incredible characterizations, chief among them Gabriel Collins in the 1840 storyline. )

Roger Davis. Christopher Pennock improved with time. I've seen him in 10 or so episodes of early 1840 and he's really good as Gabriel...he made me hate Gabriel so much lol. I always wished Samantha would slap him a dozen times. Now with Roger Davis, I wished I could slap him (well his characters) a hundred times.

Funny...I've only seen the 1970PT & 1840 once, so I HATED!! CP with a passion...maybe this time around, it'll be 'fun' to hate his characters.

I must admit that I do not care in the least for Jebez Hawks, he loves to run both hands into Carolyns hair so much her face is hidden! she is so small I wonder if he is hurting her in some way.

although as Gabriel Collins CP's performance does improve, as does his other characters.

But as to who is worse? on DS of course...sorry to say it must be RD

As irritating as Jeb is his character is still fairly new on the scene and to tell you the truth I think I've seen enough of R.D's characters!  I haven't seen enough of C.P's characters to really say how much worse he can get.   One things for sure though, at least Jeb doesn't scream all day at Carolyn the way Jeff Clark did at Vicky.

Davis wins hands down. Pennock had several extraordinarily good scenes over time on the show.   Plus I thought he was damn sexy, while Davis is simply ... nauseating.

Roger Davis. Hands down.

I think the key for me is that Davis played about 4 or 5 parts. Each and every one of them was pretty much the same. Ranting, shoving the co-stars out of the frame, and hair grabbing gets old real fast.

Pennock is admittedly pretty bad as Jeb, but he improves dramatically with his successive characterizations, which are not only distinct, but highly memorable.

[spoiler]After all, who could forget the bit where he's playing Cyrus and he licks Maggie's hairbrush. It's gross and yet riveting. Plus, his characterization of Gabriel is really something to see.[/spoiler]

  RD, no doubt. Chris P. really does a great job as Gabriel and I especially liked him as the Hyde character, although I don't remember the name. He was sooooo EVIL!!! To me he opened up a whole new dimension in the concept of evil.

Oh, Luciaphil, you hit the nail right on the head!  Pennock has some mighty good scenes in his other characters [spoiler]even though I hated the PT1970 Jekyll and Hyde schtick[/spoiler].  As for poor Roger Davis, I didn't like a single character he played, nor his thespian ability.

I hated most of PT 1970, so I tried to take my pleasures where I could find them, lol.

[spoiler]When you got past the horrors of the fake nose and that shoe polish hair they gave to Cyrus, it was quite a performance. Also, we got to see more of Elizabeth Eis, whose acting I rather liked.[/spoiler]
