A scene I found terribly sad was during the destruction of Collinwood after Quentin had tried to save the children, then finds them dead, and then Daphne dies in his arms.

BUT, you couldn't ask for a better actor to be "playing you".
If Depp is in it, I'll be watching it.

I too, love watching Thayer's performances. There's always more to discover and appreciate with each viewing. You just KNOW from his classic and impeccable work that he was a man of true substance. It comes through somehow.
I get the feeling they don't make 'em like him anymore.

I love the little scene in 1897 where Quentin has come home and he goes upstairs to see Grandma. She's been anxiously awaiting Edward's return so she can tell him the secret.
Quentin enters her room and she doesn't realize it's him. She says: "Edward. Thank God.....thank God. Now I can die."
Quentin goes: "You're quite right, Grandmama. Seeing Edward IS reason enough to die!"
