Calendar Events / Announcements '06 II / Tape Stuck....Need Quentin Bad

Tape Stuck in Machine For Over A Week
Favorite 1840 Quentin Scenes On It
[hall_tongue]  Husband Does Nothing   [hall_tongue]

I need Quentin badly.  Can't watch any DS.
For some reason over the last couple of weeks, I've wanted to watch Quentin real badly.  Something like this hasn't happened to me in a LONG time.  So what happens?  Something goes wrong with the VCR.  My tape with the last few 1840 episodes on it is stuck -- won't come out.  When you turn on the machine it shuts off immediately.

I told my husband about the problem over a week ago.  He hasn't done a damn thing.  VCR is unhooked and sitting on the floor over here.  Thanks a lot.  If I were the suspicious type, I might think he hasn't fixed it on PURPOSE -- just so I can't watch Quentin.

Pissed off?  Yeess....but why Stokes?  (I'll tell ya why)
When his stupid water distiller stopped working over a week ago, I spent 2 hours taking it apart (in the middle of the night, I might add) trying to figure out what was keeping the fan from turning -- trying to fix it so he wouldn't have to send it out.  Did I succeed?  No, but I made every effort I could.  Does he do anything to get my tape out safe and sound, and get a working VCR hooked up in here for me?  NOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I've never opened up a VCR.  Don't know anything about them.
Ya know what's on the tape?  That scene in the jail where Quentin is talking to Barnabas about taking care of Tad and how he isn't afraid, etc.  (Oh my God, calm down kid) (pant pant)
Didn't think I had any hormones left at this point but apparently I was wrong.

I JUST WANT TO WATCH QUENTIN TONIGHT.  Is that too much to ask?  Ya know what I feel like doing?  Going out to Best Buy and buying a couple of 1897 DVD's and a couple of 1840 DVD's and CHARGING them.  Hell, there's even some 1970 Parallel Time stuff I'd like to watch -- like around the time of Quentin's breakdown.

I haven't seen much DS in quite a long time.  And it's HALLOWEEN for crying out loud!
I was so desperate I watched HODS on TCM last week at midnight.  First time I've ever watched that movie from beginning to end.  Oy vey.

Well, thanks for letting me rant and rave.  Feel a little bit better (but not much).

Signed,
Desperate For The Q-Man

I saw this book at Barnes & Noble last night.
Anyone have this book?
I was surprised to not only find a listing for Barnabas, but also Collinsport, Dark Shadows, and a section on DS Fandom that talks about conventions, Shadowgram, mentions Marcy Robin quite a bit, etc.

Don't know what else was in there - just looked up Barn.  HE'S the only vampire I'M interested in.
But the book's quite big - at least 800-900 pages.  I think I spotted a picture from the '91 series in there too.   :P

Current Talk '06 I / Angelique engineered her own demise?
« on: February 16, 2006, 03:20:35 PM »
I don't suppose there's ANY DS topic that hasn't been discussed on here (or elsewhere), but this crossed my mind for some reason.  Has this ever been analyzed/resolved?

(I fear this is spoiler territory)
Angelique's cursing of Barnabas not only turned him into a vampire, but also ensured the death of anyone he loved or would love in the future.  Well, in 1840, no sooner has he realized his love for her and is about to tell her, but she dies!  Ah....the irony.

But wait - didn't she lift the curse in 1840?  Or did she just make it so he could function in the daylight?  Also, since she popped up in 1897 AND the present, I assume there's no such thing as Angelique really dying at all??
It's all just too confusing.  Then when you bring in the time travel element, it's impossible.

Calendar Events / Announcements '06 I / Clarice Blackburn in The Graduate?
« on: February 07, 2006, 03:27:01 AM »
I was watching The Graduate last night and I'm sure (99%) I saw Clarice Blackburn in a scene.
It's the scene where Benjamin is in the hotel (waiting for Mrs. R) and he's holding the door while a line of people are exiting a reception room.  She's one of the ladies walking out.

If anyone has the DVD, check it out!  Have I made a discovery, or have people already seen it??

Current Talk '06 I / How does a DS fan know when they're too old....

...When they turn on This Old House thinking they're gonna see Barnabas.
Ha ha

Ya know, thinking of David Selby's birthday yesterday......Jeez - 65.  That's kind of old.  I think they should come up with a new series:
This Old Quentin.

I'd sure as hell watch it.

Testing. 1, 2, 3... / Email programs
« on: December 29, 2005, 10:35:11 PM »
I'd like to hear anyone's and everyone's opinion about what's the best and/or easiest email program to set up and use.  I've never done it before, never used this Outlook program - always had email that was built in from the isp provider.  I looked at Outlook, and it seems rather odd/complicated, etc.  Don't understand this news group thing, plus since it's a Windows program I'm assuming it might be nothing but trouble.

Can anyone recommend a good, reliable, easy program?

Thanks

I certainly hope I have not in any way contributed to the appearance of the floating can-can dancers.  If there's even a REMOTE possibility of this, I shall promptly brick myself up behind a wall and shoot myself in the head.
