does anyone know if Amtrack goes near tarrytown?

I was looking at the Amtrak Web site the other day and it seems like there aren't any trains that go directly to Tarrytown. However, there is one from Penn Station to Croton, which seems like it's about ten miles from Tarrytown. But I haven't gotten around to calling Amtrak to see if that train is the only one or if there's a better alternative.

Isn't the DS Festival site giving out info about transportation and lodging options?  If not, they should be.  Tarrytown's not Outer Mongolia, but it isn't Manhattan either and I'm sure many interested fans would appreciate some assistance in deciding if the trip is do-able for them.

I did not see any such info posted on the festival site Raineypark, but i am sure they will post something in the near future. ShadowGram i think puts out festival info as well.  meanwhile, i will do some research on the area. also Amtrack. thanks for the airport site Dom.

I believe they generally do provide directions.  However, it doesn't take much effort to research the lodging or transportation options since most of us do that anyway when we are thinking of going somewhere unfamiliar to us. :-*

P.S. Rainey . . . I am getting ready to post some pictures you will like. :-X

There is a train that goes from Penn Station in NYC to the train station in Tarrytown.

I went on it with my two partners in crime (they know who there are) in 2001 to visit Lyndhurst. The train lets off about 3/4 mile from Lyndhurst, but cabs come by occasionally and there is a payphone to call one from.

Uh ... um ...

Never mind.  :)

Actually, we appreciate it when posters indicate which posts are off-topic instead of leaving it for the moderators to edit in, and also when they're kept to a minimum.  And announcing that you're going to a Fest is OT (2. The purpose of these forums is to discuss DARK SHADOWS, its characters, actors and storylines.), and Annie did kindly add it this time.  Thanks, sweetie!

Midnite...
I too thought Going to DS Fest was on topic - IN Calendar Events.
But OT in Current Talk.  Oh hell, I'm going to bed.

That's great news, Darren. Thanks for the info!  :)

I wonder why Tarrytown isn't included in the NY train station list on Amtrak's Web site?  :-

Because it's not ON Amtrak, Pepe.....it's on the Metro-North commuter line....out of Grand Central Station....probably doesn't even take half an hour to get to Tarrytown from there.  [vryevl]
