Burke sensibly thinks Matthew may have Vickie. Elizabeth calls the sheriff. Meanwhile crazy Matthew takes Vickie back to the secret room. He is unreasonable and decides to use her as a hostage in escape.
Joe and Burke search in the woods and the Old House. Matthew overhears that the police are searching. Josette’s portrait shimmers in the dark until Burke enters and it’s dark. Joe and Burke leave and Vickie manages a scream, but too late. Matthew seems even more deranged as he throws her to the mattress.
Another really stellar episode. I wonder if the original audience thought Vickie would be killed since it was a serial and other shows killed off beloved characters.
