I would say that those more "enlightened" and lenient parents were still in the minority at that time. And even today, it depends greatly upon where you live. I had to laugh at my niece talking about the child raising that she observed in southern California, where no child was ever hindered in their hearts' desire. She was then surprised in North Carolina, to see that public spankings were still typical there.

I moved from the Prescott area about 2 1/2 yrs. ago. I had lived there for 9 years, before that 9 years in Phoenix. I certainly did enjoy my visits to Flagstaff. But now, I am happy to be back home in Missouri.
Would they have still killed off the character if they hadn't lost Gerringer? I got the impression that the replacement was so bad that it was the quickest way to "fix" the situation.

I, for one, will sincerely miss the good Dr. I really wish he had been kept on.
And can anyone say why? I think he was the best of the sheriffs.

The other day, when Sam and the good sheriff were putting on their performance, the bartender was actually given a small speaking part. Isn't it surprising that with all the action down at the bar, that the proprietor wasn't a regular character?

Uhhhhh, the innkeeper. Can't remember what Harry or Susie sounded like. I am frequently impressed with John Karlen sounding authentic, at least to me. But then, I am a midwesterner, so what do I know? I miss the accents of the show's beginnings, that was fun.

Am I the only one THRILLED to hear this? I think it wonderful news. Fox Network is also bringing us the best new show of the year, 24. I think Fox would be much more likely to give the show a chance and not cancel it fifteen minutes into the first show. I still feel sad that I missed so much of the 2nd go-round for Dark Shadows. I loved the couple of shows I saw, but at the time was married to someone who groused through the whole thing. I just gave up on watching it. In looking back, the show would have been a better choice.

It was definately Barney's own fault that David grew suspicious. He was pretty scary to him, and yet will continue to "blame" David and or Sarah. I think David is also perceiving the "spell" or just the negative vibes that Barney is sending out to him.

As someone who just spent yesterday cleaning, I have to agree with you. When I told my kids "we" were going to clean, one of them asked who was coming over. Sigh.

Yes, good help with zombie-like loyalty is hard to get.

I must admit I would appreciate this dark version of Barnabas a lot more if he wasn't so stupid! It is a shame that they are making him so obtuse. If David has been in the secret spot of the mausoleum, then he KNOWS ABOUT ME (huh? how does one prove the other?) and has to die. If Maggie's memory is returning, then she HAS to die. Then Sarah plays her little tune and he goes all to pieces. For one thing, if Sarah was such a little angel who loved him SO MUCH and would NEVER betray him, then why does he instantly conclude that she told David about him?
