Calendar Events / Announcements '03 II / Hellooooo.....
« on: August 09, 2003, 08:03:10 PM »
[91a2] (How apropos, a horny little devil!) For those who still remember me, an update! I'm sorry I have been so bad about keeping in touch. Forgive me for having a life after all these years, but I'm rather reveling in it.

I am now a Mrs., we eloped to Eureka Springs, Arkansas on July 28th. In spite of our enjoying talking like hayseed hicks for two weeks prior, the spot is actually lovely as can be. Nestled in the mountains, it is an old Victorian mining/resort town that is now a honeymoon haven. We stayed in a very nice cottage, got married and had wonderful pictures taken for one low package price.

BTW, LOVE what is going on with the site, great work!

The kids are with their dad for the summer, so we've been able to really enjoy our time together uninterrupted. We will have a religious ceremony blessing our nuptials soon with the kids and family included in that.

I have to confess that I have barely had time for DS, I tape it and then neglect to watch. (The Leviathan story line contributes to this, it is my least fav.)

But, I have DO have a good excuse. I am getting married! I have found the person that I was born to be with. We have been friends for several years and growing ever closer all that time. We just have so much in common that it is uncanny. He is a dedicated Christian and my respect for him has grown and grown as I've watched him over time.  A love of horror films and the supernatural was one of the first things we discovered, so we always discussed that. He loves books even more than I do, though horror and theology are probably the only genres we share an interest in reading. When we began seeing each other away from church, we found out we had much more, such as both being artists (I don't do it currently, he has stayed with it much better than I) and enjoying writing.

Anyway, I have heard of a few great loves and read about them, but I never really thought it could happen to me. Or, at 47 years old, I had just given up on the thought years ago. He treats me so well, my kids like him and he is good with them, he even understands better than most my mentally ill son.  I have never been so happy in my entire life. Just wanted to share that with my friends here. I know several of you have great marriages and that has always inspired me that it CAN be done.

Current Talk '03 I / The incredible doppelganger
« on: April 01, 2003, 05:24:28 AM »
It's tiny! It's HUGE! It can be killed! Ummm, does any of this "explanation" strike anyone else as a last minute crazy idea that nobody thought would make it to the final script? Can't Barney think of ANOTHER story other than the cousin from England? Didn't he stop to think that if they KNEW Barney was a vampire, that there never WAS a branch of the family in England? Maybe saying he was from Australia would have been better. And why didn't Pansy Faye recognize him?

Overall though, two highly enjoyable episodes today. Man, I LOVED Judith and Pansy's interchange about Trasky. This was the great lady at her best. "I'm sure he spent HOURS trying to find it" (Amanda's soul). Hee, hee, hee....Is the portrait of Amanda getting bigger?

Current Talk '03 I / Charles Nelson Reilly Delaware Tate's Doodle Pad

[stupid] It occurs to me that if I had the magic drawing ability the world would not be the better off for it. There would be a huge number of freefloating eyeballs and lips, for instance. Along with some strangely proportioned, rather unattractive people. I think I need to start drawing huge stacks of cash! [deal2]

Current Talk '02 II / I wonder ....
« on: November 25, 2002, 02:32:07 AM »
which sibling set has the greatest age difference: Barney and Sarah or the 1897 family? Who IS older, Judith or Edward? I'm guessing Barney - Sarah have Edward/Judith - Carl beat, but, no wonder we don't see their mama around! Having that brood would do you in!

Current Talk '02 II / Sorta OT, "Seizure"
« on: November 21, 2002, 01:46:07 AM »
I got this video last week. Ehhhhcckkk, it put me to sleep and I never have been able to bring myself to put it back in the VCR. What a mess of a movie, I can see why Frid dismissed Stone in an interview I read. Stone must have been stoned out of his mind making this. (As I recall he has publically stated that he continues to do drugs, some of us grew up.)

It doesn't help that the video tape is crappy. I'm so sorry that one of the few big screen releases of Frid's is of this caliber. Oh well, it add to my collection....

Current Talk '02 II / Great episodes today
« on: November 20, 2002, 03:34:40 AM »
How nice to see Clarice Blackburn again and in such a juicy role. Mrs. Trask is much more masterful than her husband in being believable and persuading people to the righteousness of their cause. Still, I couldn't help but think how funny it would be in real time if Mrs. Johnson were to announce her resignation.

Lizzy: "Why, Mrs. Johnson, we will be so sorry to see you go. Do you mind if I ask WHY you are leaving us?"

Mrs. Johnson: "I've met the only man who could ever replace Mr. Johnson. Yes maam, I'm running off with Tony Peterson and that's all there is to it!"

Then there is Laura, who is thoroughly enjoyable for me. "I have other plans for my daughter. I want to see her burn [burn] in flames!"

I have to comment on this, I was rather shocked at how differently Diana Millay looks on a color episode. In black and white, she was so beautiful that I had a hard time understanding why she wasn't a MAJOR movie star. She just had the look of one....She is still lovely, but definately does not present as well in color. I'm afraid that Nancy Barrett is the same way, and I don't understand it. They just lose a little oommphh or something. And yet,  Lara Parker doesn't need her trademark flames to burn up the screen in color (and in black and white would lose something, I think)....I don't mean to sound nitpicky and I think all of these women are the greatest. Whereas, our brunettes Alexandra Moltke and KLS just look great no matter which format is used....

I really liked Judith's blue and green dress today, oh, and Bennett also looks regal in either format.

Current Talk '02 II / Comeuppance
« on: November 20, 2002, 03:13:47 AM »
Oh, how I enjoyed Rachel distress today! I could practically hear her thoughts:

"What?!! Barnabus has a FIANCEE? I thought he was in love with meeeee?! What?!! Tim is going to marry Charity? I thought he was in love with meeee?! EVERY MAN in the world is supposed to be in love with meeeeeee! Hmmm, maybe if I get my eyes even bigger and blanker and act EVEN stupider, they will love meeeee again....

Then,

Magda: Are you brave?
Rachel: Not very, I'm a stupid bimbo, haven't you noticed?
Magda: Oh well, geeve me your JEWels and I will use my brains to help you. I am verrrrry smarrrrttt....
Rachel: No, I couldn't sleep in a mausoleum even if it DOES save me from a fate worse than death..come to think of it if Rev. Trask rapes me, I wouldn't be responsible and.....well, thinking of it, makes me kind of...is it hot in this mausoleum?

Current Talk '02 II / Zombie time - spoilers
« on: November 13, 2002, 06:37:57 AM »
I have only seen this part of DS once, and I had completely forgotten Quentin becoming a zombie. And he does it so well!

Alright, I have to admit that I am very grateful to Barney for going back in time and making Quentin a permanent addition to the cast. But it does seem like he could have stayed home and saved a lot of trouble. If Quentin didn't die in the room and Jennie stabbed him instead, wouldn't that have freed David from the danger? I have to think that Chris wouldn't have had the curse either, since Magda hasn't laid it on Q yet. It seems like at least Barney should have said "I Ching, here I come..." and gone back. Could it be that a certain governess is affecting his choice to remain in the past?

I thought David Henesy did a great job of imitating Quentin, even his laugh.

Current Talk '02 II / TLTKLS question
« on: November 13, 2002, 02:28:54 AM »
We all know that several guys here are convinced  that KLS, is the greatest SWT ever. (Great to see you back Ringo!) How do you women feel about her?

I have to admit, that I am becoming aware of really disliking her characters. It isn't so much that I dislike Rachel, though, OK, I do despise stupid wide eyed twits. But what I really dislike is men's reaction to her!!! Yes, I'm jealous and I'm mystified about her appeal and I always have been. When I was a YT, I used to look at the SYTs and wonder how they did it. And that's just it, they don't DO anything, they just are and men drool over them. I used to think what am I, chopped liver? (And now that I am no longer even Y, I know that, yes, I am chopped liver.)

So, am I the ONLY awful person with such feelings? [vryevl]

Current Talk '02 II / No noise in the hall....
« on: November 06, 2002, 02:18:14 AM »
SLAM! Clump, clump, STOMP, shuffle, shuffle.....

Gee, I hate to think if Beth had been trying to get Jenny back loudly! Course, Jenny is a big girl and could be hard to handle.

I'm learning to despise Rachel. She irks me. There is a slyness and excitement to her "innocence" and her curiousity that repels me. She asks Beth a question and gets told to mind her own business. So she goes back three more times to ask again?! And if she had interrupted ME in the bedroom with Quentin, I don't think she'd live to do it again! Did she really think blurting out everything she has seen while spying to MAGDA, of all people, would be a good idea? And my what a lot of information is on her palm! I think the only reason Magda didn't get her social security number is that they didn't have them yet.

I understand that he did a couple of them. I don't remember either, but was way impressed with the one today. He was the usual raging idiot, only younger. (Did casting directors say "We have a role for someone who yells ALL the time, let's get Davis!"?)

Young rich girl is engaged to young rich man. Mommy and Daddy love the fiancee. Davis enters as the rejected former boyfriend/stalker. EVERYONE hates him except maybe the rich young girl. Fast forward 20+ years, girl is embittered alcoholic who married the wrong guy and blames Daddy for it. Unseen hubby has squandered all the money and they are going to lose the mansion.

I'm sitting there thinking "Man, the attitudes toward what true love is have certainly changed in the last 30-40 years, nowadays NOONE would think that raging maniac could be anyone's better choice for husband"....when Roger Davis enters as the husband from hell! It was nice to see they had the dynamics right after all.

Unfortunately, DC and writers DID seem to think the chronically angry man was actually romantic. At least for poor Vicky who got to be engaged to both Burke AND Jeff/Peter.

Current Talk '02 II / Where's Martha Stewart when you need her?
« on: October 29, 2002, 07:57:00 AM »
Now, don't you all think that drapes in the tower room would be such a GOOD THING? Gosh, it is ever so hard to keep a good family secret without them! I suggest black velvet would be in keeping with the mood of the room and serve the purpose in a decorative way.

Why do you think that they couldn't match Naggie, oh, excuse me, RACHEL's hair? Heck, I got a much closer match on a fake ponytail at Target! Love Rachel's reaction to Quentin's friendship. When he said they would start tomorrow and she asked start what, I thought I'd crack up. What were YOU thinking about, girl?!! Not that anyone in that position would be thinking anything different!

Isn't Carl a hoot? What fun. LOVED Barney's face after Carl left the room. Just the right amount of irritated "What the hell was that?" expression. OK, he messes up lines, but you have to admit that Frid does  an admirable job of keeping character. And I bet that was one scene it was hard not to crack up doing.

Current Talk '02 II / OT Trivia question for original fans
« on: October 27, 2002, 02:45:14 AM »
No offense kiddos, I just suspect that you wouldn't be familiar with:

What was the scifi/horror show in the sixties or seventies that began in an empty amusement park at night? I think the camera took you through the park, then on the roller coaster. And a very creepy and effective intro it was!

I am finding myself wondering if it reruns on Scifi, but since I can't remember the name, how would I know? It is amazing the things that bug you when you are too old to remember them and yet not old enough not to care....

Current Talk '02 II / Edith Collins
« on: October 26, 2002, 04:57:18 AM »
Ok, I'm a dork. Even with Luciaphil's comment about Edith to me the other day, I still didn't put it together. It wasn't until it was spelled out for me that I actually caught on that Edith played by Terry Crawford  and "Grandmamama" were the same character. Now I'm wondering what else I'm missing. Gak!

Loved today's shows, loved, loved, loved them! Got to see Edward, Judith got some lines and some good ones, Quentin tries to kill Grandmama and they STILL keep him around. I think Isabella Hoopes is just, well, GRAND! The dock floozy was even one of the better ones. When Carl enters the picture, it will be just about perfect.

I can't even think of a snide remark to make today. [wink2]
