Well as in the case of many a soap opera character...Barnabas and Julia started out as two morally reprehensible, selfish people. . who evolved and became the heroes of the show.  ..

Wellll I do think Julia us culpable in the murder and her action for the Collins family later is her attempt at contrition. . . well i don't think the writers actually set that up but it works okay for me. . i do think however. .julia could've destroyed Barnabas. . he was vulnerable during the day ..Julia could've come over. . slipped Willie something say at 9:00 a.m. and then had hours to hammer something into Barnabas' chest cavity--

I went to the Judy & Bea & Nancy is 3 cabaret show tonight in Manhattan.  I have to say it was a riotiously good time.  I recommend it to anyone who #1) loves Judy Garland and/or Bea Arthur, 2) understands the whole beauty of drag theatre and 3) luvs Nancy Barrett.  I took a friend who knew nothing about DS and she loved it too.

Nancy does a bit of the cabaret show she's done at DSFests + a new number that was deliciously fun---She also talks about Joanie Bennett and Grayson Hall (I was in heaven, yes!).   [bigok]

Well didn't Naomi at one point and time accuse Joshua of being to friendly with the Countess or did I dream that?

did she?  I don't remember. . hey where are my tapes?! [happy1]  I think this "chemistry" was after Naomi died--like i said the last 2 episodes Natalie appeared in . .also, I liked the eps too because Grayson was dressed in a lovely black dress (mourning Josette rags) that i though showed how slender she was compared to the rest of the Countesses yards of cloth or Julia's wool.

Favorite couples huh?? Well I do like Melanie and Kendrick. . .Magda and Sandor (they did seem like a couple didn't they?)

As for would-be. .well this is out there but watch the last 2 episodes Countess DuPres appears in while she and Joshua are trying to help Barnabas and tell me you don't see chemistry (after the initial I hate you-you're country is dull/I hate you-you're an arrogant overthrown gentry ) chemistry between Joshua and Natalie-- [cya]

I find this particularly interesting because there is no other time I really sense any chemistry between Grayson and Louis.  .. even when Edward is oggling the recently time-displaced scandalously short-skirted Julia in 1897--

oh my!  one goes to seattle for a few days and see what erupts!  I was originally gonna post. .it wasn't an official "kiss" but when Tom and Julia meet in the woods and then again in that crypt. . those were some fairly juicy scenes. . . And as Countess said. . i always wonder. .well Sam was the writer, Grayson was known for her off-b'way sexual antics.  .how interesting NONE of Julia's characters got romance ..(Oh yeah Magda hugged Sandor and called him her Big Fat Hero but i think that was a grayson ad lib). .

And as to the other area this thread went to--I don't know if B & J would've ended up together. .Sam Hall's article notwithstanding. . Dan Curtis seemed to have definite ideas about the Julia Hoffman character. . .what Sam suggested, DC didn't follow suit, e.g. "killing off Julia". . DC flatly rejected that idea (or so we're told).  .And was there more between them?  I know there was a lot Grayson was projecting but honestly i've watched and since Frid had such difficulty with his lines, he missed some golden opportunities with projection and intention but there are moments when you know Julia means more than he's willing to say but is it that she's now like the sister he lost or something else?  It's hard to dissect since Julia didn't interact with any other men in that way (other than TJ and there was the vampire complication which B would understandably object to)---so its fodder for discussion groups like this . .and elsewhere.  I DO think there is room for discussion, i don't think is clear cut one way or the other---
