As posted by Matthew Hall today on FB:
Graysonites:
"Here's the deal: Sam Hall, my sainted father, is moving out of the house he bought with my mother about 35 years ago. There are quite a number of Grayson Hall things that I'd like to see go to deserving homes-- I may be Ebaying some of them. But let's start with the biggest one: anybody want to buy Grayson Hall's baby grand piano, a Lester made in Philadelphia on which she took lessons when she was young, and I took lessons when I was a boy? It was played at parties (in the red living room of yore) by Hazel Scott and Bobby Short and others, too. Sold as is, could use some varnish and cleaning, needs to be tuned. Not a valuable piano but a nice one. Message me if curious."

Uhhh what was that about?  I think Matt Weiner maybe had sisters who were fans and it annoys him still?

May 8th episode of Thunk Tank.
Weird intro for 3 minutes and then you'll hear some familiar music.
Matt talks about working on 1991 Revival series (and story of Johnny Depp and Iman suggested for Barnabas & Angelique), his Mom (and fears the film insults her), casting of Frid, etc.

Hey folks...which of Joan's films aside from Scarlet Street, HODS and the Brides flicks is she best remembered for?

A new documentary was released here in NYC this week about the stage and film production of the iconic The Boys in the Band which ran on stage for 5 years before being made into a feature film directed by William Friedkin (The French Connection & The Exorcist).
As many here know this landmark production had the participation of several DS cast members, Joel Crothers, Chris Bernau, Keith Prentice and Don Briscoe all at one time appeared on the stage version.  Only Prentice went on to be in the film.

There isn't much personal information about Keith but lots of shots of him in rehearsal, production and filming and a discussion of the film's reception and then fall from grace after Stonewall.

The film also contains vintage footage of Roddy MacDowell's Malibu beach house parties with Lauren Bacall, Natalie Wood (close friend of the playwright), Robert Wagner, Tuesday Weld, Judy Garland, Rock Hudson, etc.

Calendar Events / Announcements '11 I / Lolita My Love

Found this link to a musical Denise Nickerson was in back in '71 that was Broadway bound but didn't make it.

Who would've recognized Denise as Lolita on this album cover?

Calendar Events / Announcements '10 II / Grayson's erstwhile Wiki editor(s)
« on: November 27, 2010, 04:54:58 PM »
Words to the wise who trust Wikipedia as an infallible source:

I've noted in the last year or two, someone (maybe several someones) keep fiddling with Grayson's bio data on Wiki.  Now I know its free, and for "everyone" but the information is just plain WRONG.   Grayson's parents weren't Mordecai and Ida, they were Joseph and Eleanor, her father was a used car salesman (and a bookie and a few other less savory things) ...She only went to Cornell for 1 semester and there is no evidence she was a student at Temple, though she may have been a bit player in some of their productions (though I found no evidence of that either).  And she didn't have a "long" battle with cancer; she was diagnosed and died 6 months to the day of her diagnosis.

Sooo please spread the word and if you note errors, let me know so they can be corrected.
I footnoted the information about her parents today, hopefully that will cause the "editors" to rethink changing it.
Leading to some of the confusion may be there was a 2nd Shirley Grossman in Philadelphia at the time, AND she also went to Simon Gratz High School but they are two different girls...photos of the two clearly demonstrate this (as well at the birth dates and parents names). ...

rant over.

Current Talk '10 II / Dr Julia Hoffman .. Friend Zone
« on: August 02, 2010, 01:12:15 PM »
A fun little ditty i came across this a.m.

http://ghoulsonfilm.net/?p=970&cpage=1#comment-2038

"There comes a time in everyone’s life where you find yourself falling for a friend. You think that the bond you share can be escalated to a deeper, more romantic level. Sometimes, you get the fairy tale. Other times, you hear the magic words: “I don’t want to ruin our friendship.” That’s when your worst fears have been confirmed:

You’ve been banished to the dark recesses of a place known only as “The Friend Zone.”
...
Like many a smart lady, Dr. Hoffman didn’t count on falling in love with Barnabas. Even the most brilliant women in any field are inexplicably drawn towards these “bad boy” types and apparently, Julia’s kryptonite of choice happened to be suave Euro-vamps. "
