Current Talk '06 I / Re: Why Did Some of the Actors Leave the Show?

Couldn't we simply this by saying generally the actors left due to 1) boredom or 2) salary disputes?   :P

Current Talk '06 I / Re: Bizarre DS Fest Dream!
« on: May 08, 2006, 06:52:13 PM »
I've dreamt of her too on a number of occasions.  I can confirm that even on the Other Side, Grayson is still a sophisticated, somewhat tart-tongued, "gutsy broad" with extremely well-defined opinions!

Let's hope your dream bodes well for plans for Julia99's panel in honor of the Divine One.

thanks JC and GoThick!   . .i've only dreamt of Grayson once and because it was so vivid, I changed the title to my book. ..

First husband????  All this time I thought Sam was her one and only!   My, my, the girl obviously lived!!!  Any other passionate affairs pre-Sam? How about a Grayson-Sam wedding photo?  Grayson vastly preggers with Matt?  Or pics of her with Liz & Dick in Mexico?  More, please!  Most importantly- will it be on sale at the Festival in Brooklyn?

It is planned that the book will be available in Brooklyn.  There will be lots of pictures.

Good of you to note that bit-of-information Charles. .it is a relatively unknown fact and why is explained in the book.

Ms Hall (1923-1985) was a widely acclaimed New York Theatre actress, 1964 Academy Award nominee and co-star of the 1960s-70s iconic Gothic television serial, Dark Shadows. Research into her career has uncovered reviews of Grayson's earliest stage appearances as a teenager on Long Island and includes material on her extensive stage work in New York City; Spoleto, Italy; and the Hedgerow Theatre outside Philadelphia. Rare, previously unpublished documentation of her television and film careers will also be presented

The biographical project's goal is to provide a comprehensive, candid view of Ms Hall's professional achievements, persona and legacy for her admirers, the theatrical community, and students of the history of the American media arts.

The book contains excerpts of interviews with Kathryn Leigh Scott, David Selby, Nancy Barrett, Alexandra Isles, Marie Wallace, Diana Millay, Sylvia Miles, John Guare, Ted Mann, Arthur Penn, and Sam and Matthew Hall.   It will also include several privately, unpublished photos of Grayson's early life, including a photo of her first husband-Ted Brooks, and her theatrical endeavors.

The book is scheduled for publication in August 2006.

Information on the book can be found at www.rjjamison.com (non fiction)

Why those dirty &$@#$~s!  How dare they diss our Grayson!  After all, Grayson got the nomination, not Burton/Gardner/Kerr!

that's likely why . . . their displeasure at being overlooked held a lot of power back in the day and still carries forward no matter who writes and tells them where they can find footage of GH's nomination, prominence at the award show.  .etc etc.  .. there will be more about that in "the book". . .

Also .. try some other stuff. . off-bway is good for cheaper tickets and memorable experiences, see http://www.timeout.com/newyork/ViewSection.do?sectionId=theater for suggested shows . . .i highly recommend seeing something else besides retread pop songs or music videos on stage. . try Doubt or The Light in the Piazza Sweeney Todd or Avenue Q.  .

You can get discounted tickets online rather than waiting at the TKTS line from theatremania.com or .http://www.entertainment-link.com/broadway/discounts/shows.asp

Is it possible to get tickets to "Spamalot"  during the Fest?  Because THAT is worth every penny of the ticket price and THEN some!!! [lghy]

you'd have to pay out the nose but also check craigs list nyc. . tickets for folks who last minute can't make shows appear there

522
thanks folks.  G was in another Peter Falk show, yes he was a detective in that one too but hubby Sam remembers her on Columbo too and the Search thing is also confirmed by Sam but the explanation of what went wrong there is lost.

523
I'm looking for someone who knows Columbo really well . .Grayson was in an episode but i've not been able to find out which one, tvtome.com doesn't list it .. . are there other online Columbo resources?

Oh!  So THAT'S why I'm always seeing the majority of girls/women dressed like sluts -- from middle school all the way up through college.

It's some sort of radical, feminist statement.   ::)

Okay.  I get it.

right. . i don't think I agree .. i think most of the females now are clueless about continued invisible manipulation and marginilization. .if you're not this'n that you're not valued by certain males. . .i'm only in the first chapter of the book but again, thank god someone wrote this .. i thought i was one in a million looking around bewildered. .

KLS's book, The Bunny Years is mentioned in the new (and thank god someone wrote this!) book, Female Chauvinist Pigs:  Women and the Rise of the Raunch Culture by Ariel Levy. http://blogcritics.org/archives/2005/09/21/012936.php
