This tells me they're not doing so well.

Though that's not what the article indicates. It says they're "consistently in Hulu's Top 10 shows."

I know nothing about hulu or how it rates it's programming but the phrases "top ten shows" and "drastically scaled back episode order" generally do not appear in the same sentence. [easter_huh]

it would really be heart-wrenching if all of these actors got their hopes up only to find themselves unemployed again in six months. [easter_sad]

Apparently the change was brought about by viewer feedback - many viewers have complained that watching four eps a week online was too time consuming for them. They felt it was putting in more time than when they watched on television. And I suppose that could be if they didn't watch every day - and particularly if they recorded the shows and then fast forwarded through the stories/characters they have no interest in, something that isn't possible to do online.

Things might be OK. They're scaling back on how many episodes will be posted per week, but not scaling back on the amount of episodes scheduled to be produced per year.
It's when they scale back on production that things are bad.
There are many possible explanations for this. Let's see how it goes.

still these things used to air five one hour episodes per week. at now just two half hour episodes, for a total of an hour a week, is a pretty stunning cutback.

I thought the fans wanted these shows back. now they have them and they're complaining that they "don't have time" to watch them??? great way to talk your show right back into cancellation.

this situation makes no sense to me. [easter_rolleyes]

a lot of fans are complaining on message boards, and the producers are saying that both shows remain in the Hulu/iTunes top 10.
I guess we'll find out soon enough.

strikes me as rather ungrateful.

so they want "less" of each show??? you know the expression. careful what you wish for.

Never underestimate the short attention spans of some people. I've seen people bragging on soap message boards that they watched their show in 10 minutes because they fast forwarded through so much. Not that I think that's the way most people watch. (It's certainly not the way I watched when I watched soaps.) But apparently that type was very vocal when Prospect Park asked for feedback.  [easter_rolleyes]  And the thing that gets me about the people who do that much fast forwarding is they're the first to complain that to them things in the storylines don't make sense. Hello - maybe they'd understand if they actually watched the show instead of fast forwarding through so much of it. Cutting a show down to 10 minutes is ridiculous. Why even both watching at all?

What will be interesting to see is what will happen now that the, for want of a better word, "normal" fans are complaining about the cutbacks...

Well, first, thanks for the heads up.

I did originally post that I would be (as they phrased it), "Binge watching".

Who has time to 'tune in' each (or even every other) day?

I have been watching/listening to the commercials! (Once or twice, there have been commercials for soap!!! laugh!!)

Patti

Hope they're not doing bad; but, I wouldn't think actor's paychecks would be staying the same as 4xs/week.
