Who was better (not necessarily successful) in performance? Was it Professor Stokes or the Revernd Trask? You be the judge...

I agree with Jennifer. Prof. Stokes had the skills.
Off the top of my head, I can not think of any
instant where Trask really exercised anyone.
It was usually Angelique doing magic and letting Trask
think he did the job.

Prof. Stokes gets my vote. I like his approach better.

Stokes was much more convincing/professional.

BUT

Trask was a whole lot more fun to watch.

I have to agree that Trask is much more fun to watch.  His rantings and ravings just go ON and ON!  It's hilarious!

Oh, I would pick the good Professor any day. (For one thing, I am not wanting to throw anything at the tv!) He is so self assured and confident, even in the face of not being greatly effectual. Then he gets a zinger in, usually at Julia's expense. Can you imagine the bickering these two could have been capable of as a long term couple?

Considering the quality of writing at times on the show, I always find myself wanting to kiss the writer's feet when the Stokes character lets nothing slip by him. T. David gets the choicest lines for his Stokes character, second to none (especially in this current storyline).

I'd have to put Mrs. J. in the same category when it comes to consistently good writing for a character.

Well, Trask did have the theatrics as well as a full knowledge of satanic phrases and spell's, still he seemed shocked when it actually worked!  of course we all knew who did the real magic...

Professor Stokes in my opinion was much more professional towards these spirits and I believe had he known more about them for instance their names as well as who they were in regard to the Collins family he would have succeeded...  exercising ghost's bent upon revenge is very difficult when attempting such a  task in the Dark Shadows of Collinwood.... :D

At least Stokes knew which end of the divining rod to hold. <snicker>

On the other hand, Trask wasn't very nearly killed while performing the exorcism.

Was PT Angelique the only character that successfully performed one?

Apparently the good Reverend is not pleased with the voting in this particular message thread.

that to a higher authority.")

LOL!!  I hadn't even noticed this!

Oh it's definetely the Professor who gets my vote! He is always so fearless in the face of the unknown.  When he saw Quentin's face laughing at him in the mirror, he didn't flinch an inch!  Compare that to when Trask saw the ghost of Maude Browning and you can see how hysterical Trask was when he faced the supernatural.[wow]

I have to admit though, it was pretty hysterical to watch Trask go at it with all of his mumbo jumbo rantings.  I found it amusing that the only exorcism that he actually suceeded in was done after his death
when he perfomed the exorcism on Cassandra in the woods.

I see (and to no surprise) that most, if not all picked Prof. Stokes.  His performance was very good indeed.[hello]
However, I totally enjoyed Rev. Trask attempt to chase away the Devil.  It was more fanatical, more fire and Brimstone. [angryf] , and to a degree more humorous to watch! [emblgh]

[hello][hello] I also think Stokes was very good, better than Trask.  I remember Quentin (don't remember which time period) - he was always dabbling in the occult- out in the yard with one of those divining rods.  I think he was trying to get rid of Gerard.  Can't remember, anyway, he was not successful.  He was really rattling off those incantations though.
