Just love the shot from 1796 of Natalie and Abigail.

And here it is:

1968: Ep #430 - Natalie is sure she heard Josette's voice.

Many thanks for the above selection, MB.  The shot of the werewolf doing his MJ impersonation is hysterical!

That featured shot on the Robs board of LeviaLiz giving a completely clueless Willie the freeze today is a hoot!  Love it!

Today's slide show also features the great scene of Lt. Costa visiting the Phoenix morgue.  Sy Tomashoff really earned his bacon that week.

Looks as if I missed the climax of the Laura '67 storyline.  Some of DS' most beautifully staged scenes.

I love that shot of Julia's reaction at the sight of Jeb in his true form, and the great two-shot from their conversation that follows. Interesting how while Julia does let out a good old fashioned blood-curdling shriek at the sight of the Leviathan Creature, unlike others who have confronted it she snaps right back to sanity.  Perhaps that's because of her "special genetic structure" that also makes her immune from the wiles of the "Leviathan box trick."

Great stuff!  Love the shots of Barn administering justice to Trask in 1796, too!  And for the Quentin fans, there are some very juicy shots of him in all his Victorian splendor tonight.

Once again I'm way behind, but --

Also from the February 16th's slideshow:

1967: Ep #169 - Roger is upset to learn that Liz' will
stipulates Carolyn is the legal Mistress of Collinwood if Liz
becomes incapacitated.

I love how Roger tries everything he can to gain control during Liz' 'illness' - though he's thwarted at every turn because Liz was smart enough to foresee the situation and specifically put Carolyn in charge.

From February 17th's slideshow:

1967: Ep #170 - Laura exerts her powers to prevent
Josette, speaking through Vicki, from naming Laura as the
evil presence.

You've got to love the expression on Diana Millay's face.  [wink2]

1969: Ep #691 - Liz and Mrs. Johnson are horrified as
Quentin's music plays, David proclaims it's too late to be
afraid, and his and Quentin's laughter fills the room.

Simply one of the best moments ever on DS!

From February 18th's slideshow:

1970: Ep #953 - It is Nicholas who has been made angry
because he claims the resurrection of the Leviathans is
his idea. (Uh huh.)

Love the return of Nicholas even though the explanation for his return makes very little sense.

i've been watching 1897 lately and as much as i love having diana millay back as laura collins for some reason she's not quite as swoonsworthy as she was during the 1966 storyline.

perhaps it's because 1966 was ABOUT laura and here she's just one stroke of a much broader and unwieldy canvas that's largely focused on quentin. also 1966 was tighter and more character driven rather than plot driven and the dialogue was alot crisper(who could ever forget her showdowns with liz). still she's fun.

another quick thought abut 1897 but it's strange to have barnabas and angelique in supporting roles when usually they're at the center of the storyline. i'd forgotten how colossal 1897 was in it's scope and the huge number of characters.
sleep 'til noon and your punishment shall be the dregs of the coffeepot.

I do love that snap of Miz Laura doin' her thang at that big-ass Seance (sorry, it's Mardi Gras and I'm channelling some withered old Queen who haunts the French Quarter) in the Big House.  Big!

But even more do I love the capture of Laura glaring insanely with teeth bared the time Liz interrupted Herself in one of her cozy fireplace moments (I think she was trying to hex someone--maybe Sam?).

The latter occasionally surfaces as a floaty here.  It's memorable.

MSC, I agree that Laura is less effective when she's just one occult element in a whole crazy late Victoriana hullaballo of freaks that is the glory of 1897.  But I do cherish her return in that storyline because we get the unforgettable joy of her one on one scenes with Quentin (just love the one in the cottage when Q is lying there to all appearances in his death-agony and Laura is purring and cooing with cold, savory malice), Edward, Magda, Minerva, Trask, et al.  Diana Millay was always so beautifully focused--even lethally so--in these scenes, and she seemed to bring the series up to a higher level when she was on board.

From February 19th's slideshow:

1970: Ep #954 - Angelique is shocked to learn that
Nicholas and Sky have been friends 'for a long, long time.'

Love the reunion between Nicholas and Angelique.

From February 20th's slideshow:

1968: Ep #432 - After she has discovered him, Barnabas
forces Abigail to confront the truth.

Can it possibly ever get much better than that?!

1969: Ep #694 - ...shaken after his own encounter with
Quentin, Roger apologizes for ever doubting and agrees
they must leave Collinwood.

A rare moment of clarity for Roger.

1969: Ep #694 - Quentin laughs hysterically after having
driven everyone away.

Another amazing moment in the storyline.

1970: Ep #955 - ...once Angelique discovers Barnabas'
involvement with Maggie, she casts a spell to cause
Quentin and Maggie to love each other.

And an unfortunate step backward for Angelique.

I just love, love, love that Nicholas and Angelique reunion scene in Leviathans.  It is a highlight of the entire sequence, and I would even venture to list it as a highlight of the entire period from the end of the Petofi mind switch disaster to the conclusion of the series, period.

Nicholas is just so deliciously catty.  Of course, Angelique gets her own back in a later scene with Sky ... heh heh ...

Nicholas and Angelique's reunion is one of my favorite scenes too, though there are other highlights later on.

Possibly the best scene ever may be Barnabas and Abigail. Wow.

Just love Laura's expression in her big face-off with Guthrie.  How does the dialogue go; something like--

Guthrie:  I know now that you ARE ... the Un-dead!

Laura (coolly and cooingly):  And what if I AM?

Great, nail-biting suspense in that scene.  Love the episode cliffhanger, too.

And in PT 1841, did Barrett and Karlen make an utterly adorable couple, or what?

The February 21st's slideshow:

1967: Ep #172 - Mrs. Johnson is puzzled after Laura refuses
to allow her to put out the fire to clean the hearth and insists
the fire in her cottage must be 'burning all the time.'

Have always loved Mrs. J's reaction here.

1968: Ep #433 - Vicki is shocked when Nathan testifies for
the prosecution that she said Abigail deserved to be
'dead and buried.'

Nathan begins his descent into someone who'll do anything to save his own hide - and Joel Crothers gets some really meaty material to play.

1969: Ep #695 - Chris and Carolyn are both devastated
when he insists they have to break up.

Love them or hate them as a couple, but this is a great scene.

The February 22nd's slideshow:

1967: Ep #173 - Laura tries to persuade Burke that she isn't
just working on him.

Unlike anyone else, Laura could really wrap Burke around her little finger, and it's fascinating to see just how often Burke falls for her wiles.

1968: Ep #434 - After learning about Nathan's lies, Naomi
insists she will go to court to testify on Vicki's behalf.

You've got to love whenever Naomi defies Joshua.

You've also got to love Naomi's gorgeous gowns!

And yes, Barrett and Karlen are even more adorable in PT 1841 than in "our" 1841. The writers even managed to have them "meet cute"!

Thanks so much, MB, for this selection.  I love the contrast between Laura's smugness and Mrs J's "who the hell died and made HER Queen?" annoyance.

The scene where Chris breaks up with Carolyn is heartbreaking indeed.

And what a memorable moment--Naomi gives Joshua a piece of her mind before going off to the courthouse to testify for Vicki.
