MB, that's so cool to know that you're also a fan of PT1841 Julia Collins.  I just love the nuances Grayson brings to that role.  I have been able to appreciate it more upon watching it again in recent years than I did back during the original b'cast in 1971.

And talking of nuances, today's featured image at the head of the front Robservations page is simply stunning.  Even in that nubby coat, Grayson is elegant, elegiac, mournful half-despair incarnate.  Brilliant capture.  Thank you so much!

I also like PT 1841 Julia Collins. She has such a complex mix of emotions to deal with--devotion to her brother Justin, devotion to the Collins Family, resentment of Josette and all the rest of it. Julia makes Magda look straightforward!

Yay!  One of my favorite shots popped up on page 1 of the Robservations page today; Maggie giving Mrs J the "talk to the hand" gesture as reliable old Sarah was ranting away about "those children!"  Just a fab scene.

Maggie is totally glamour queen of Collinwood in this episode, swanning about in different outfits.  It seems as if Maggie inherited some of Mrs Stoddard's clothing budget, for a few days at any rate.

On page 2, I also love the scene where Stokes informs Barnabas that they need to hold a seance to contact the spirit of Madam Finlay.  THIS is Classic DS!  It's totally wild when poor Mrs J becomes possessed by the spirit of the dead medium.  Great shot of Clarice from that scene.

Thanks again,

G.

I meant to post the other day that two of my favorite moments were in the February 2nd's Robs slideshow:

1968: Ep #420 - Pretending to be Nathan's sister, Suki thinks
it's 'divine' that he and Millicent plan to marry.

and

1971: Ep #1202 - After having made love with him, Catherine
tells Bramwell that it doesn't make a difference and she still
plans to marry Morgan.

I love me some Suki/Jane Draper. And the scene between Bramwell and Catherine is a pivotal one in 1841PT.

I totally missed these!  Jane Draper is a Goddess!  Thanks, MB!

Again late in making the post, but one of my absolute favorite moments on all of DS is certainly this one from February 3rd's slideshow:

1967: Ep #160 - When they angrily disagree over Liz'
treatment, Roger opines that Carolyn is getting more and
more like him, to which Carolyn responds that surely that's
a compliment. (I LOVE IT!!)

Also the looks on the faces of David and Barn are priceless in this moment from Leviathans:

1970: Ep #942 - David doesn't believe that Jeb would
kill Maggie. ( Apparently that computer-like brain of his
crashed once he became a Leviathan!  ;-) )

(The computer-like brain remark refers back to Ep #681 when Carolyn said she believed David isn't an ordinary kid - he stores information like a computer.)

I agree. Great stuff! And here are those captures/captions:

1969: Ep #682 - Stokes believes they must hold a seance
to reach the spirit of Janet Findley.

1969: Ep #682 - Speaking through Mrs. Johnson, Mme.
Findley reveals that 'he killed me' in 'that room.'

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Clarice Blackburn did a fantastic job in that seance.

Thanks for these, MB.  That shot of Roger and Carolyn having a face-off is superb!

Backtracking a bit, I've always been amused that Suki Forbes wears the navy's blue and buff. Is she matching Nathan's uniform on purpose? Or was it just that the costume fitted her? Either way, it's hilarious.

Bramwell without his jacket--what next!!

Just love the shot from 1796 of Natalie and Abigail.  A rare humane moment for the latter.  It's always such a treat to see Grayson and Clarice working together.

Behind as usual, but here are a few capture and/or captions that can't go by without comment:

From February 5th's slideshow:

Am I the only one who thinks the werewolf looks like he's doing a Michael Jackson impression?  [snow_cheesy]

From February 6th's slideshow:

At least Natalie and Joshua had the good sense/compassion to bend down and check on Josette after she'd fainted (- a trait Joshua obviously didn't pass on to either his wife or his son or by example to Nathan).  [snow_wink]

From February 8th's slideshow:

1968: Ep #424 - Millicent is devastated to discover Nathan
and Suki's marriage license among Suki's papers.

The start of one of my favorites parts of the 1795/96 storyline - Millicent going off the deep end.

And this may look like another repeat of people just standing around looking at someone unconscious on the floor, but no. Soon after this moment, Catherine rushes to Morgan's side. So, apparently, like Natalie and Joshua, the people of 1841PT also would seem to have more compassion/good sense than Nathan, Naomi and Barnabas when they just stood there with Vicki unconscious on the floor.  [snow_wink]

Some more moments:

From February 9th's slideshow:

1967: Ep #164 - In light of Liz' attack, it frightens Vicki that
something is prowling around Collinwood and at any moment
at all it could strike anyone.

Get used to it, Vicki.  [snow_wink]

1968: Ep #425 - Josette plunges to her death from Widows'
Hill in an effort to escape Barnabas.

In a show known for tragic death, Josette's has to be one of the most tragic.

I'm not sure what it is, but there's something about Jeb's body language in that capture that I find hysterically funny.

From February 10th's slideshow:

1967: Ep #165 - Laura warns Josette's ghost that it's
useless to interfere.

It was always interesting that Josette and Laura were at odds, but it actually gets more interesting when the 1897 storyline establishes that Laura was Jeremiah's first wife. It might have been interesting if they had established that back during the Laura storyline - but then back then it was established that the adult Laura had been around in 1767 and 1867 and Josette's story had supposedly taken place in the 1830s, so it wouldn't have made much sense. Not that it made much sense in the 1897 storyline. Though by the time 1897 came around, Jeremiah's backstory had become exceedingly convoluted...

More moments:

From February 11th's slideshow:

The introduction of Ned Stuart. No! NO! NOOO!!

1970: Ep #948 - Josette's spirit tells Barnabas the
Leviathans do not hold her prisoner and gives back her
ring so that they may be free of each other.

It really is interesting how often fan mail/feedback had an effect on the show. Leviathans is a perfect example. But not simply with the main Leviathans storyline but also with how the show decided to move on from Barn's obsession with Josette after many fans had written letters to both the show and to the various magazine feedback columns to say how so over Josette they'd become. (Though little did they know that Josette would be making a comeback with hoDS...)

Is it just me, or does 1841PT's Gerard look more like Prince Valiant here?  [snow_cheesy]

From the February 13th's slideshow:

1970: Ep #950 - Carolyn has another dream about the
truth about Jeb.

Carolyn, Carolyn, Carolyn - why, oh why did you ignore your dreams?!  [snow_rolleyes]

Yet more moments:

From February 14th's slideshow:

1967: Ep #167 - Roger insists the idea of a seance is
preposterous.

How quickly he'll be changing that tune.  [wink2]

1968: Ep #428 - Joshua informs Nathan he is not welcome
in his house or on his property, including the shipyard.

Love the look of shock on Nathan's face!  [lghy]  (Though others' gaze may be elsewhere other than his face - and you know who you are.  [naughty])

From February 15th's slideshow:

1968: Ep #429 - Peter wonders if Trask ever stops to
think what a waste it is for him to sell out his life by
trying to destroy everything he doesn't understand.
(One of Peter's extremely rare great moments.)

The truly sad thing is that in all probability the answer to Peter's question was no...
