:)  Hm....?  Josette's the sweet girl but....I don't think they would last too long.  It would've been nice to see the actual romance develop & mature.  Barnabas' obsession.   She seemed to adore him.

Maggie is just a reminder of the past for Barnabas.  A good woman.  It's like being with somebody that reminds you of somebody else.  Not good.

Angelique truly loved him into some obsessive behavior at any cost.  A dangerous relationship.  He did love her & admitted it once.

Julia is the dedicated friend with an enormous crush on Barnabas.  Unrequitted love but good friends.  Better leave it as friends?  Friends is always a good place to start.

Tough question & my answer is.....Julia.  Maybe it's tough to picture a romance but Julia has proven herself.  She's there for Barnabas no matter what the cost. :)

I see Barnabas and Maggie Evans.

Perhaps he could make up for all the crappy things he did to her in 1967.

Definitely Angelique. She and Barnabas are both twisted souls who seem to thrive on sadomasochistic relationships.  I don't think any other woman could handle Barnabas, and I don't think any other man could handle Angelique.  They'd spend the rest of their life together torturing each other, but they would absolutely enjoy every minute of it.

As for Julia, I would love for her to end up living in an elegant mansion, with the (affliction-free) Brothers Jennings on hand to tend to all her needs.

Regards,

John

Okay, I just can't picture Barnabas and Julia passionately in love.  I can't even picture him kissing her.

Here. . its not like they didn't get close enough . . .this is an undoctored screen grab. .lol! :P

Fantasy wise, I picture Barn and Laura as a great couple (supernatural or not). I think they'd make a fabulous looking couple (I can just picture them at cocktail parties!). I picture their relationship as being very "Liz & Dick" (Taylor & Burton).

In the context of the show I'd have to go with Josette - mostly for sentimental reasons. Spoiler...

I remember getting extremely emotional (happy in my heart) when it was revealed in one of the parallel times that Barn and Josette had indeed ended up married happily ever after.

Afan,
I went ahead and added the symbol to your original post (and removed the post that's quoted here), but if you click "Modify" you can edit any of your posts at anytime.  The feature is available to all registered members [cousins].

I hope posters will consider using the size 8 font with care because unless your intention is to have your message stand out, such as offering congratulations or wishing someone a happy birthday, it can be very shocking to come across an entire message typed that way.  Thanks!

ANGELIQUE!!! NO ANDS IF'S OR BUTS!
They undoubtedly  have an undead, er, I mean undying passion for one another.  Even though Barnie is too dumb to realize it!
PEACE TO ALL!!!!

Of all his love interests, Barnabas does seem to ironically have more chemistry with Angelique than any of the others (IMO).  They have quite a constant fire going on that I think if the series were going on today might occasionally turn more steamy regardless of their wanting to kill one another.

Still, my old memories of the show insist that I say Josette who I can't quite get out of my head as his "eternal love". It's just that when I think of it now -at  a crusty 47 vs. a much less jaded 12 - I can't help thinking "Eternal love? Just WHAT the heck IS that anyway!!!"  :P  Ahhhh, sweet, dingy youth where have you gone!

A write-in vote--Willie!

Seriously. . .

This has become a more difficult question for me as I grow older.

Should it be Josette, the long-lost love Barnabas tried so hard to re-create?

The loyal, loving, generous Julia, who stood beside him, a staunch friend to the end?

Angelique, his one legal witch-wife, the woman from his own century, who blackmailed him into marrying her, yet seemed to have a strong tie to him in spite of it all?

Actually, I think if Barnabas had had some serious therapy, the right mate for him would have been Vicki Winters, a modern girl with old-fashioned values and a love of the past.  I believe they were well-suited to each other, and once he got over trying to replace Josette and accepted Vicki as a separate soul who loved him, they could have been very happy.

But I still think Willie might have been best of all!    ;)

Love, Robin
