The Prop Project, Gold and Red Afghan

Another odd primary/secondary switching: in episode 810, the black-bordered afghan was wrapped around the bottom of Lenore's cradle, and in episode 811, in Quentin's dream, this afghan was wrapped around the bottom of that cradle.  This suggests that everything was tidied away for the night after 810, even though everybody knew that the same cradle would be used for 811, and then in the morning for 811 the set dresser didn't check to see which afghan had been used the day before.  Either that, or the choice was deliberate, to emphasize that this was a dream and not real life.  Dan Curtis directed 811, and I doubt that he would make that choice - but I may be misjudging him.

I think it is a shame that The Afghan has not been a guest at any of the festivals.  I'm sure there would  be plenty of stories to share.

The secondary afghan covered Michael in episode 927.

This afghan appeared in Professor Stokes's living room in episode 931, first folded up on a table, and then draped over Paul Stoddard.

This afghan appeared in the Collinwood drawing room in episode 963, first folded over the sofa (or something; I can't remember), and then draped over Megan.  In close-up, the parts that usually appear to me to be dark brown looked strikingly red, and the the parts that usually appear to me to be paler brown looked gold with a hint of green.

This afghan appears in episode 968, in a vision, draped over the subject of the vision.  Or anyway, over one of the subjects of the vision.

This afghan appears in episode 980, folded over the back of the sofa in the drawing room at Collinwood, and later on (no surprise) it's unfolded and draped over Carolyn, who is sleeping on the sofa.

Has anybody ever counted the number of squares in either this afghan or the other one?  It should be pretty easy to do with this one, since the squares are so big, but it never occurred to me before today that counting the squares would be an excellent use of my time.

Well this clues us into Stokes a bit.  .wasn't this afghan also over Julia at the Old House after Tom Jennings had his way with her multiple times.  Maybe Stokes took it as a Julia-memento.  ::smirk::

This afghan was seen in the same room with the black-bordered, multicolored afghan in episode 997.  Oddly enough, the room did not explode.

It is over the lap of Gabriel in 1840. So it had an easy right. I think they picked it because it matched with the chair.
