For me, Diana Millay absolutely shined the best, giving her best performance, as Laura in 1897 in the scene where she and Edward have a brilliantly acted verbal knock-down fight about their parenting skills regarding their two children.  It was totally awesome.  Miss Millay gave her all, totally consumed in her character as the two of them kept interrupting each other, giving crescendoing jabs, insults and put downs.  Both Miss Millay and Mr. Edmonds were red-faced in rage as they took it to the ropes.  Rarely have there been such expertly executed scenes and it was Diana's performance that had made it possible.

Laura was a great character. Is it true that Diana Millay was already pregnant when she began her first stint on DS in '66-67? If so, Ohrbach's (and the directors) did a decent job in camouflaging it. Still, she shouldn't have been smoking that cigarette in that diner scene: good for a Phoenix, bad for an expectant mama.

the suit laura wears in her introductory scenes in rather fitted compared to what she wears later on in the storyline.

during her four or so months on the series here as her pregnancy progressed her outfits get increasingly blowsy to hide her expanding tummy.
