Current Talk '06 II / Re: Which catfights should have been on Dark Shadows?

I remember that the Kitty-Angelique scene was once shown at a DS Festival, and everyone cheered!  Let's face it, Josette should've bitch-slapped Angelique the moment she
found out that Angelique was going to marry Barnabas.
Another catifght that should've been: Jenny vs. Laura, 1897- after all,
Laura stole Quentin away from Jenny, leaving her alone, pregnant and at the "mercy" of Edward and Judith while going insane.  Remember, it was Laura (with Dirk) who set Jenny loose that final time, leading to Jenny's death and the werewolf curse.
I'm surprised there wasn't one between Maggie and Carolyn after Joe had had enough of Carolyn's capricious behavior (especially where Burke was concerned) and found Maggie far more appealing.

It's heartbreaking, and so damn unfair.  Any news on funeral arrangements, etc?  Is there any contributions that we can make in his name?  When you think of all of the evildoers who walk on the face of the earth while good people like Craig leave us so soon, you wonder about life itself.  Still, we have to go on living to honor the Craigs of this world.  If reincarnation is indeed possible, we will be seeing the likes of him again- and that's something to hope about.

But for now as we grieve for our friend, a few words from Mr. Sheakespeare:

He was a man, take him for all in all,
I shall not look upon his like again.

Rebecca, you probably know this following fact already, but to those who don't:

Another link is that Grayson was in the film End of the Road, which had James Earl Jones as a costar!

I would've loved to see more minority characters on the show.  Imagine someone like Cicely Tyson (who did soaps in the 60s) as a voodo priestess from Martinque with a score to settle against Angelique!  In 1795 there was Ben Stokes, an indentured servant at Collinwood.  How about a free black man working at Collinwood in 1840?  I've always thought that Collinwood may have been a stop on the Underground Railroad......

Current Talk '02 I / Re: Rogues we LOVE to hate

To me Quentin in 1897 was very much the embodiment of the word!  He could be such an creep, and yet he had a charm about him that you could forgive him anyuthing- well, almost eveything.
He had that curse coming for the way he treated Jenny.
And of course, Nicholas with his fabulous panache.  If Roger really had a way with the ladies, he'd be in this category, but fittingly his rival Burke (when Mitch Ryan played him) fits easily.  As for Gerard Stlies- he really do anything endearing on the show- he was always plotting against someone,
and this was even before Judah took over!
Too villainous to be a rogue.

Nathan Forbes started out as a rogue, but when he was exposed as a hypocritical bigamist, he veered staight into villainy like Gerard.

Tim Shaw actually became a rogue
after being framed by Trask, like Burke Devlin he had a score to settle and wasn't above using ladies to do it!
(Both characters were probably based on Edmond Dantes, aka The Count of Monte Cristo).

But I've really gotta give props to my favorite DS villain, the one and only Count Petofi!  Now, that man had panache to spare!!  No matter how deliciously bad he got, you just couldn't get enough of him.  DS did a major error in not bringing him back to 1969 and instead going with the Leviatan storyline.

Actually, Constance was from 1680 PT!

Maybe you should contact Jim Pierson & Ann Wilson at the Festival to start things moving- a permanent memorial to this great actor would be a sweet tribute.

Guys- my concern was that all that he worked for survives him, as a kind of tesament to all the great work he did as an author.  As a history buff, I compare it to say, William Shakespeare dying without anyone preserving his sonnets or Hamlet or any of his dramatic works.  To infer that I am being insensitive is way off the mark!  Twelve years ago I watched my Uncle Bill die of liver cancer, and it broke my heart to see a strapping six-footer who once weighed over 200 pounds waste away- such a fate I wouldn't wish on anyone.  He was one of the nicest people I knew, and his loss still hurts to this day.  So I only know too well what Craig's family and Joe are going through right now.  The last thing I would want to do is to upset anyone at this point.  And I thought you guys knew me better.

I just realized something: who will take care of Dark Shadows Online?  Also, Craig was planning to put out the new edition of Barnabas & Co. next month.  I suppose he made longterm plans for the maintenance of his site and his book in case things got terminal, but I never thought this soon......

Arrgh!!!!  My secret identity has been exposed to the world!!!

Hooray for Lara!  New worlds are definitely opening up for her!  Hollywood's loss is academia's gain.  Now if only John Karlen taught acting.....

It's so strange, though- earlier today I found out that a co-worker became a father for the first time last night.  And in the space of one day I have to contemplate the start of one life and the possible end of one.

It's so damn unfair!  I saw him at the Festival and thought things had turned for the better.  He's done so much for Ds fandom with his entertaining books (over the weekend I was going over his guide to DS collectibles) and DS online, among other things.  If he does 'cross over' soon, you can be assured he'll get the ultimate welcoming committe a DS fan can get: just imagine Louis, Joan, Grayson, Michael, Thayer, Donald et al welcoming him at the Pearly Gates!  But I'm still hoping for a last-minute miracle.......

They'd better update the DS Festival website to include these new items!
