The SUBJECT of this string should've been entitled. ."OUR TERROR ENDS. . " well until the Leviathan storyline anyway . .

Amen to that! After sitting and watching DS on my own for a while now, it is interesting to find out that I am not alone in hating the Leviathan storyline.

He has a problem 3 days out of the month.  That's pretty much it.  Chris doesn't even try to make it work. He couldn't be bothered to spend time with her when she was upset and recently released from a mental hospital, but he could be bothered to go out for drinks.  Sorry, that doesn't fly with me.  Find a way to make your life and your problems less intrusive and deal with it.

I have to agree 100%. I especially hate how Chris reacts when Carolyn asks him his permission for something re: Amy, like the trip to Boston. "Huh? Amy? Obvious mental process: 'Oh yeah, I have a sister and her name is Amy'. "Oh, OK, sure ANYTHING you want to do with Amy will be fine, I'm sure!"

You'll be waiting a while, Afan! As you probably heard Julia say today, in the book she's reading it is only after being bitten. Which makes as much sense as anything else, I guess. Nasty infection from scratches, werewolfism from bites!

The history behind England is that Joshua, Barney's father said he had moved to England and put that in the family history. Actually, Barney was dead and Joshua thought it of the plague. He did not his son's body being treated as it would have been in the case of plague and also to prevent the panic that would ensue.
Then, when he discovered his son was a vampire, he was even more determined to hide facts. He rewrote history a lot, deleted Millicent's marriage to Nathan Forbes, Barney's to Angie,  and covered up his wife's suicide. He would have chosen England as being far enough away that it would be more reasonable to others that Barney was never heard from again.

At least they never had him do a bad English accent, that came and went!

I think you got that impression from Miss Bennett during her appearance on the Mike Douglas Show... one of the few interviews (I believe) she did during the run of the original Series.

No, actually, I don't recall ever seeing that. I know my Granny watched Mike, but I was never very interested. It just makes sense to me. Bennett had trouble with lines, she wasn't young and making her success, it seems logical that she would be OK with working AND taking it a little easy at the same time. Frid certainly tired of being the main star, it is refreshing to know there was a show on which people were willing to share the limelight.

Current Talk '02 II / Matthew Morgan's cottage
« on: October 05, 2002, 12:52:58 AM »
It has been a while since the beginning of the show, but I am thinking that the cottage we see Chris in bears no resemblence to the one Vicky visited Matthew in. Not that that's surprising. Anyone able to verify that? I still can't figure out why little Missy Hot Pants said that about him living there, it looks great to me. (Of course, we ALL know that she was just asking to be killed for her decidedly sexual aggressiveness.)

Carolyn tells Chris it is isolated and very private. And yet, when Mrs. Johnson gets the bejeebers scared out of her, the scream is loudly heard at Collinwood. And yet, Naggie has to ask the children where it is????? OK, Naggie's not the brightest bulb, so that doesn't mean a much as it could. But, I am sniffing some major contradiction.

For another topic, it seems Chris could be Naggie's intellectual match. He seemed completely mystified by Amy burning his shirt! It never occurred to him this could be a wise thing to do? It is a good thing that he is wearing relatively non-descript clothing, a bright paisley or such would be an instant revealer! (At least, he is THAT smart.) I can just hear Carolyn though, "That wild beast is wearing Chris's shirt! Oh no, he must have killed him and stolen his apparel! After all, Chris is WAY too cute for me to suspect HIM!"

I'm not usually good at the details, but I noticed the day Barney attacked Wolfie in the crypt that his cane was NOT the dog head. I expected it to be and was surprised that it wasn't the one I remembered. Then, the next day, there is the dog head one!

And if silver bothers vampires, how did Barney  ever get so attached to his silver headed walking stick?

I got a kick out of yesterday's exchange between the Sheriff and Chris after Barnabas called to tell him that he and Chris had been drinking all night.  Mr. Collins word is all you need in this town.  This, even though Barnabas is usually the #1 suspect when anything funky happens in town i.e. Adam.

Consistency, thy name isn't Dark Shadows.

I was thinking the same thing! It is not so long ago that they were wanting to search the basement at the Old House and Barney was very suspicious indeed. Now, he is the man to have vouch for you! Well, all that changing Sheriff Patterson has done would confuse anybody....

Current Talk '02 II / Gargoyles
« on: October 04, 2002, 07:24:06 AM »
Well, my DS alumni DVD and VHS collection is coming along. Got Gargoyles today and watched with the kids. My younger son proclaimed it "A REALLY good movie!" It was fun to see a young Scott Glen (who is a favorite of mine anyway and who knew he was so cute then?) and Grayson Hall in the same movie. I liked Grayson's part, only wish she had more of it. It must have made her happy to be chasing a man for a change in a movie!

Night of the Iguana is by far the best movie so far. (I haven't seen Save the Tiger in years though, and I remember it being very good.) NOTI was just  unbelievable with such a strong story and that marvelous cast.

Ha ha, after reading this discussion board earlier, my kids and I were watching a movie. My son innocently asked as a car is driving on the show:

"Did they go through time?"

It must be the Collinsport influence, though, wouldn't you say?

It seems if you criticize someone's favorite the walls fall down on you.  I feel all alone in the character I dislike.

Amy has always struck me as a manipulative accomplished liar.  She seems to have a knack at saying exactly what adults want to hear even before her ghostly influences.  Her wide-eyed oh so innocent delivery reminds me of Eddie Haskell(Leave it to Beaver).

OK, now you are IN FOR IT! How DARE you....oh, sorry!

Actually, you think she is an accomplished liar because she IS an accomplished liar. She is giving David lessons, and he was pretty good at it before her.....You are certainly entitled to not like her for these reasons, but they are why I DO like her. It is refreshing to see a bratty child and one that does it so well.  And even the psychology for it. She has lost her parents. Presumably ol' Tom was loving, but I have to wonder how good a father substitute he was. She lost him. Chris lies to her and disappears everytime she needs him. She has wolfie blood running through her veins. I think the miracle is that she can ACT innocent and OK.

I find her as believable a character as a little future wolf breeder could possibly be. And I guess that is part of what makes or breaks a character for me....

I thought it especially humorous that she felt the need to take Lizzie's pulse with her standing there talking to them! She seemed surprised to find one even then....

ROFLMAO, Dr. Lang! Oddly enough, I have never had occasion to use those phrases or

"I want her to come to me of her own free will."

Well, the GREAT thing about Carolyn is that she invokes ALL of the above!

Come to think of it, my man Roger, fits much of this also. I like the combination of hero/villain that is Roger. He is truly a snob for all seasons.

And quite a pathetic little hurrah it was. I have to wonder if Bennett was just as happy with her less demanding role though. She was paid to be the star and I'm sure she kept the same pay for a lot less work. I know actors are very competitive for lines and camera time, but I somehow like to think Bennett was above that and a smart cookie to boot.
