Julia has one on her bedstand. . .she picks it up frequently and sets it back down. . .then tries to sleep, of course some ghost or ghoul always interrupts her beauty naps.

Great question, jennifer!  You know I'm with you on the shoes.  Manolo Blahnik and Christian Louboutin not even born yet... brrr! ;)  Seriously (???), I'd have big problems adjusting to 1795-- I don't even like to go camping if there's no place to plug in a blowdryer.

I have a question for the fashion history buffs.  How in those days DID they make the fabulous curls a la Millicent or Samantha?

Curling irons go waaaaaay back.  To 1795 I'm not sure. . but to the 1800s and early 1900s I'm certain. They were heated over the fire or a lamp and then applied to the hair for curls. . .I've seen some very old ones in fashion history books.

Hiya, Daphne!  TPTB = The powers that be

It's her opinion and she acknowledged that it was.  If she doesn't like a term for women or anything else but wants to answer the question, I don't understand why she can't express that as politely as she did in her reply.  So please, let's respect each other despite our different opinions instead of making this an issue.

I was merely trying to let VAM know that he did not offend all women on the board.  Reading VAMs message led me to believe that was the assumption.  Now this is my opinion and mine only.

The word "chick" was not intended in a "degrading" manner but for humor and attention.  I do apologize, if I offended any of the DS actresses, who I hold with the highest regard.

I'm a female and I do not find the word "chick" or "broad" the least bit offensive. . that's reading way too much into things. . .oh and I AM a Feminist.

My HUNK-O-METER goes like this:

1.  Don Brisco (take me anywhere, crypt, cottage, woods.. )
2.  David Selby  (just whisper silly stuff anytime)
3.  John Karlen (give me a few whiskeys and sure)
4.  Joel Crothers ( a girl can dream can't she?)
5,  Roger Davis (take your hands outta your hair & put them here)
6.  James Storm (snarl for me baby)
7. Chris Pennock  (I'll show you how to use that pendant)
8.  Michael Stroka (here, let me wipe off all that makeup)
9. Jonathan Frid  (well, he was the show. . )
10.  Humbert Astredo (in his dreams maybe)

True alot of things rested around $$ and not using more than a certain number of actors per week or episode but we didn't really need to see Naomi. . .Natalie was more important at that moment dramatically. . .It would have been far more interesting to see Joshua, mr stoic, try to deal with an overly emotional and distraught Natalie. . .would've been fun. . .

Okay. .there is no logic in DS, right but there are certain rules of drama.. . how many times on DS did something momentous happen and then the next episode. . .the major players weren't seen?  I mean, today's 2nd episode for instance. . .Natalie shouldve been around, if even unconscious cuz the local doc gave her laudnum or something because she was so distraut.  But not seeing her grief or being told that Josette was dead was a cop out and having Elizabeth say she was 'fine' was a total blase statement. She's a hyperreactive, imperious Countess, you KNOW she ain't fine!  [bawl]

I can think of other times DS did that. . .its disappointing really  .

Based on the way Magda clinked and clanked I would say Grayson pretty much cleaned out the DS costume jewelry stash just about every day during that storyline.  Our favorite gypsy queen probably had about 40 pounds of miscellaneous pieces jangling around at any given time! [king]

Maybe Magda (Grayson) was Mr. T's inspiration??

« on: April 03, 2002, 05:45:33 AM »
Umm .. how is it that Barnabas could strangle Suki, she was able to say his name and then expire?? If he strangled her to death. . she would be dead right?  If you can breath and utter a name .. shouldn't she have been able to live? That seemed kinda weak but my MD diploma is old. . .

It was one of those 'off-screen' talks she had with Barnabas. . obviously.  We always assume if we didn't see it on the show, it didn't happen.  But other stuff was going on. . I mean Mrs. Johnson didn't just live under the stairs. . .she did have her bridge club and twice a year voyage to the  Chippendale's show. . .
