Very interesting Carol. . of course that doesn't look at all like the white clapboard building with the wrap around porch by the sea we were told was Julia's domain.

It makes me think of the reasoning behind Viki being called dumb because she "doesn't understand". Who on God's green earth would understand all the weird crap that happens at Collinwood? I think "I don't understand" is the single most logical (and honest) statement anyone could give under those circumstances.

Gimmie a break!

Vicki is perceived as dumb 'cuz she stayed and often set aside obvious problems. .i think.  I mean Julia stayed too and that was dumb. . THEY are ALL DUMB!  But aren't most people on most television shows. . .??

I think it's just before they go to 1970 PT, but Barrett  really goes for the natural flower child 1970s ironed hair/natural look. I don't know if it's because she didn't lighten it or what, but the hair looks almost dirty. Then we pop into 1970PT, and with a change in look to a more glamorous style, she looks good again.  Right now, word about the eyebrows. Plus they're too heavy on her.

I think Nancy (and the makeup artist) purposefully did this . ..she wanted to project a woman who didn't believe herself to be pretty. . .darker hair, morose expression. . .As Carolyn --it was blonde blonde blonde and a flip. . . good use of natural talents rather than tons of makeup, IMO.

There are rashes of hair colors that infest this show . .at times there are too many red heads .. .Grayson, Donna McK, at times KLS, Denise Nick, and on and on . ..right now there are too many blondes!  Angie, Laura, Charity. . .sheesh!

Well I have heard that he graded their performances but when i've heard the stories --they are told with a lot of humor as in pointing out his eccentricities .. . no one seemed to indicate that they were "afraid" of him. . .??  :-/  And they retaped as many of Lela's ending eps as any one elses from what i've observed but then i've just made cursory observations. . not detailed notes or a thesis on the subject.

But now onto more important matters. . how will we survive the dearth of DS over the next few months? ?!?

It woulda been more historically correct if the Rakosi's crossed themselves from right shoulder to left shoulder, as a good number of Romany were actually of the Eastern Orthodox faith, especially if they had a name like Rakosi.

Gerard

Ahh Gerard you made my point. . .

Ohhh. . where to start?  Yes I've noticed Barnabas's close-talker stance. . . I thought it odd with the character Julia. . but often their conspiring I guess. . . but i did think it odd that these two "non-lovers" always stood so close to one another.

Second, I sincerely disagree that Henry Kaplan was the worst director. (This is only MY opinion i know but i point out--) I thought he tried to make the actors seem less stagey. . i.e. walking around furniture as you truly would, not like you do on stage, moving the camera for more realistic shots. . i.e. if someone falls to the ground, the camera focuses on them there .. rather than when someone puts them on a couch and often he seemed to get more genuine emotion out of the actors than say Lela Swift who kept saying "more more" which led to more and more histrionics.

one thing i noticed was Magda's dark skin. they must've put something on Grayson Hall to get her skin that dark.

Yes they definitely got out the darker foundation today and used it here on out. . .did they run out of the other stuff or did Dan say she didn't look exotic enough?? It boggles the mind.  ."She needs darker make up and longer hair. . longer hair!"  (Dan always wanted her to have more more more hair!)

Current Talk '02 II / Magda's girlie run ..
« on: November 14, 2002, 02:55:00 AM »
I chuckle, i smile.  .but rarely do I laugh right OUT LOUD when i see DS but today when Magda ran her little "girlie" run to lock out zombie Quentin . .i just BUSTED out. . .Julia Hoffman would never run like that!

I also too liked seeing Magda's fondness for her fat hero  husband.

For those who care, Grayson does appear nude from the backside in a movie called "End of the Road".  This was made in 1970, and in the scene she tries to seduce Stacy Keach.  Believe me it will make you cringe!

Well . .all you see is her bare back. . . i'm sure the crew saw more than that. . . it is a rather difficult scene 'cuz of Stacey's weirdo performance, her very pointy (!) tongue and his hands down her bikini bottoms. . .as for "tries".  .she does succeed.  There were other scenes where he came back for more but that ended up on the cutting room floor.  Which is ironic to me that they cut sex but kept that very bizzarro opening scene with James Earl Jones strutting around catatonic Keach . .it was waaaay too long.

Of course I have a fanfic of my own that I haven't written anything on since last Spring, so I can't bellyache too loudly...
