How fortitious of you to notice. . 'cuz it was a different letter, this is what Barnabas really wrote:

My dearest Julia, , , , i'm stuck in a cell, can't think what to do, so i'm
gonna write a letter to you and hope you get it in 70 years. . .hey, by the
way, how have you been? Get lucky while i was gone? No, me neither. .

Current Talk '03 I / Re:If There Was No Sam Hall on DS
« on: March 05, 2003, 05:55:04 PM »
Interesting question .. i think there are those fans who think Grayson got what she did 'cuz Sam was the writer but i always remind them . .she got the job first, she had the Oscar nom, don't dis her.  And its interesting to me that Julia has interesting moments but overall, she doesn't seem to get preferential treatment (e.g. always in distress (only a few times), diva moments, lovers, etc. like today's divas get-erica kane comes to mind).  Julia was a reliable-friend character.  I think you can see the character of Magda might've been a husband's present to his wife. . .but i digress. . . Julia stayed on the show because as others have said Barn needed a trusty sidekick and the unrequited nature of their feelings kept it alive.  Remember. Sam Hall suggested killing off Julia and it was DC who said "NO!". . ..

II don't understand it, either, Birdie. Maybe if she spoke up more often, Barnabas would have respected her more and eventually would have fallen in love with her.  She's too whiney, too needy. She should've told him that Josette was dead, get over it, and see a real woman of the 70's.  Barnabas probably wouldn't know what do with a free lovin' woman. He was stuck in the 90's--the 1790's! LOL

Carol are you joking?? The last thing Barnabas wanted was a woman with a mind of her own . . and Juliia was blindly devoted to him (which ickens me too) but she spoke up plenty of times. .okay, he often said "do as I say . . " now. .i challenge the notion that she did it. . she often just looked aside and did what she was gonna do all along. . . but the idea of Julia just throwing him down and giving him a taste (no pun intended) of a mature, educated woman rather than simpering naive fools. .that's a good thought!

I also will miss Magda. She is my favorite Grayson charactor.  I enjoy her wit.  Also enjoy how she acts with the Barnster.  At times I just want to wack Julia for her blind devotion to him.  Julia lovers don't hate me.  I just can't stand that an intelligent woman would put up with his crap.

Birdie

Hence. .the famous Julia slap series on the Julia list. .wherein she finally gave the bat a taste of the sting of her palm. . .

But today, I watched my tape and Oh. My. God. Amanda.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, but she's worse than I remembered.

Ugh. Ugh. Ugh.

What's worse is that I can't seem to find the remote control  :'(

I've got the remote and am switching it FAST FAST FAST!!!

No more Magda! ahhh!!  :-[  :-[  Perhaps Grayson got allergic to all the makeup or they ran out. . . It does seem strange that her fate is in now way hinted at. . .

My friend asked if she was on any dolls?  I blanched. . of course not! but hey those NY Theatre types ya never know .. . ::)

Don Briscoe is quickly moving up my list of most annoying actors but he still has a way to go before he's filling Roger Davis' shoes.
I do hate to see his descent too. . so far away from his youthful vampire, tongue-wagging days. . .I just always hope for a butt shot. . it cheers me up.

I'm going to miss King Johnny :'(  I always thought of the movie "Golden Earring" with Ray Miland when King Johnny was around.  He would have been a great character to have around for awhile longer.

It woulda been good if he could've stayed longer. . Magda needs a new husband. .or lover at least. . .i would think she has  a lot of stress to work off. . ?? ::)

Current Talk '03 I / Dennis Patrick Memory
« on: February 26, 2003, 08:04:51 AM »
I don't know how i forgot about this incident .. I just remembered it tonight!
. . .circa 1985-86, a gal from my hometown (Russell, KS), Marjorie Mahoney Dusay (a.k.a. Blair's Mom-Facts of Life or Alexandra Spaulding on GL and the WOMAN who stole Spock's brain!) had a tennis/golf  benefit tournament.  Several minor celebrities attended . . Mindy Cohn, Catherine Hickland, that cute guy who was married (in real life) to the Eden Actress from Santa Barbara. . and Dennis Patrick (I think they all had the same publicist or something).  Anyway. . i stood on a remote corner (right near our Main St house) awaiting the B.I.G. parade of celebrities in vintage cars with my brother, who is obviously disabled.  And this gentleman got out of his car and came to talk with my brother.  They both kidded for several minutes . . .and that lovely gentleman, i just remembered tonight was Mr. Dennis Patrick.
Nice memory, glad I reclaimed it.

I agree Maggie. . .he's great.  And i often forget there is a 30-year old actor in there. .that he isn't some uptight, Ebenezer type of character. . .Jerry Lacey is great!

Wasn't King Johnny supposed to have **liked** Magda at one time (and Jenny too?). . whu.. she didn't put out so now you want her dead?? I don't think his anger is entirely about Petofi's *hand* . .  :P
