However, even if Barn had led Julia on, that would hardly have been a valid excuse to knowingly overdose him. As if anything would have actually been a valid excuse to do THAT!  ::)

Uhh the fact that he was a blood sucking, murdering vampire somehow makes him more sympathetic?? He wasn't so reluctant in the movie. . Come on .. .we've been watching this show too long. . .  ;D

Barn strangled Julia in the movie because he thought she had betrayed him, and frankly rightfully so.  She did.

Exactly.

Point being?  Yes she betrayed him but it's not like she was the villan or something.  He led her on. .He was evil and got staked.

I took that to mean in terms of friendship, hence the human dimension which there is nothing wrong with.  I can tell you that in latter years when being presented with a fanzine depicting Julia and Barnabas in an embrace Messr Frid said in total puzzlement: "What is that?? They were never together."

Well to be contrary . . cuz it's such fun . .the quote would seem to suggest otherwise. .they specifically ask for 'love interest'.  ..now we all know reporters can twist and turn but i also know that i forget what motivations i had a few months ago versus what i brought to a character some 20 odd years ago. . . I dunno. . . maybe other things have colored the memory of what was originally intended or done at this time of the show/movie?  Let Juliafiles have their moment, come on.. .

Current Talk '03 II / Re:Tom and Chris: Twins Or Not
« on: November 25, 2003, 04:04:10 AM »
I'd bet they didn't say one way or the other simply because it never came up in a meeting.
The original discussion didn't actually hinge on whether or not they used the word "twin" - but that they seeming went out of their way not to use it when using it would have been so much simpler (not to mention a staple of soap convention), but rather just inferred that the brothers had an extraordinary resmblance to each other. That's what makes the debate so fun and interesting.  ;)

Well Julia did scream when she saw Chris .. . I take that as an affirmation that they were identical even though it's not stated. . .

That's it Wes.  . . the Juliaphiles are just compiling the known articles where the actors spoke of their artistic motivations. . .and we have that one but not a date.  But i'd still like a scan of it if anyone cares to humor me a bit more?  Thanks luv!

quoted article:

FaVE: Can you tell us something about the "Dark Shadows Movie"?
Jonathan: Of course! This is what I have always wanted to do. It hasn't been as difficult as it could have been, since most of the actors are familiar faces and I'm doing my old role. I would like to carry Barnabas to his completion in the picture.

FaVE: Does he have any love interests?
Jonathan: He has his moments. There's Dr. Julia Hoffman who discovers Barnabas, tries to cure him, and in the process falls in love. There's also love interest with Maggie Evans, who Barnabas sees as Josette, but that's the vampire stuff. His love for Dr. Hoffman is more human.

Just a bit of fodder .. .Barnabas' love for Dr Hoffman is more human. . .? ahhhhh From the Fridman himself!  [bouncer]

Current Talk '03 II / New Makeup artist?
« on: November 21, 2003, 05:39:49 AM »
Over the last few episodes, it seems they either went with a new design or an entirely new makeup artist came on board --both Lara and Grayson's eye makeup has been very lovely . .gone is the eyeliner drawn out to their ears. . .

Eliot's arrival was an interesting twist, one not completely followed thru (once again) by the writers. . .Eliot would've been a better defender for Q and D rather than Barn who does an 'okay' job. . .with Angie's help.  I couldn't help but notice how pleased Julia seemed to see him, that she was a bit touchy and there was a 3rd thing i noted (which now i forget) that with all our hypothesizin' and overanalysis could lead others to conjecture that Julia and Eliot cared for each other in a way not completely discussed too.

Yeah in an article (in one of the books). . .Matt Hall wrote how they decided to up the sexual tension by having Dr Hoffman be a woman and of all the things Barnabas ever did to Julia, the one thing he didn't do was bite her . ..:)

I honestly think Angie would've soon gotten bored with Barnabas. . .she seemed quite the spitfire .. .nights at home reading by the fire would not go over for very long.  .She'd get a serious itch for some merriment and nightlife. . . There is actually a rather good fanfic piece written with that in mind . . .  its at JuliaHoffman.com.  It's called Memories of You.
