well someone put together a DS family tree at some point. .i can't find the link but the file i saved has . .Julia, Justin and Barnabas as siblings. . I figure Julia must be uhh the little sister. . really the messing with ages. .like we aren't supposed to look at Bramwell and think he's a contemporary of Julia's  rather than the obviously younger Catherine, Daphne, Kendrick, Quentin, et al. . .give me a break.

I know when i first read of this scene. . folks indicated that Bramwell was putting on his boots but alas.  . . it was just a fanciful recollection . .although what is there is PLENTY!  It's just like so many folks thinking that in the last Barnabas and Julia scene when they leave the Drawing Room they are holding hands. . .uh, no. . .just walking out together.  .to a dreadfully boring historical society opening.  .lucky kids!

I watched the scene yesterday where Julia escorted Catherine out of the house. . she does come across as a total bitch but you know . .really she just wants to spare the girl her life or sanity. . .she's really, down underneath it all, a pretty selfless lady. . .that Julia Collins, shucks!

I found this myself a few months ago while doing some Grayson research. . .of course at the NY Public Library. . you can get the articles for free too. . .

Well if they hadn't gotten involved. .it would've been. .uh well, really really boring. . . .And i don't see how the actions of RT character have anything to do with PT characters except when they cross into that band. . .the PT Julia is just naming laziness on the part of the writers. . .

Anyway, since a friend suggested it to me, I'm convinced that Crispin Glover is just born to play Barnabas. He's about the right age, looks totally sinister and has just the right air of menace about him.

As well as interesting hair but can Crispin look forlorn? (oh wait. .i forget his mooning over Calvin Klein's mama-to-be in BTF). . .

The theatre was also recently renovated. . good cushy seats with cup holdes now. . but the bathroom is small. . ahh i used to live only 3 blocks away. . .another trivia tidbit:  when the theatre opened the neighborhood was known as Eureka Valley  (and sometimes still is referred to as such)

I would imagine your parents wouldn't have been thrilled by Night of Dark Shadows, either, what with:
[spoiler]* the exploited boy-toy of the floozy ghost in the Sexy Nightgown of Death, with his own aunt as pimp !

The Sexy Nightgown with the Bustier of Steel pushing those buppies up higher than they've ever been!

Aunt. .are you talking about the departed Mrs. Stoddard mentioned in the first scene but never seen?  Carlotta is not Quentin's aunt, she just the housekeeper, a creepy well dressed and coiffed housekeeper.

Hey remind me. . Julia and Justin are supposed to be whose kids?  Bramwell is barnabas' son. . .and how is there a Julia in PT when there isn't one in RT.. . i know we brought this up last time. . . was grayson afraid she wouldn't respond if her character got a new name or was it just laziness with the writers. . gosh there are plenty of good names out there. . .how about Ophelia.  .that a gothic, maudlin, doomed female name. . ??

Current Talk '03 II / This American Life

I don't remember anyone mentioning this. . . forgive if it's a repeat the 1997 DS Convention was part of This American Life a PBS radio show.  If you  want to hear it, go to http://www.thislife.org/. . search for "conventions' or episode # 74..  It's Act 1 only.  "what happens when 2000 people come together when they have nothing in common but watching television?"[/b]  and another piece from 1996 of a group of people who sit around watching DS. .is this any of us? That one is episode #39

I also think now  ..  . Grayson's unexpected 3-week leave of absence probably had something with us suffering Carrie . . .

I'll chime in here. . I liked the '91 series too except for Ben Cross as Barnabas (and that's a mighty big exception/problem).  I thought he was stiff, unsympathetic and well, not all that attractive. . .

Wow Nancy ..that was a tome!  You know we are both right here. . . Julia in the movie is not a nice lady . .. and Barn is not a nice guy .. . I actually think the scene where Barn learns of Julia's feelings was very well done by both of them. . .he sincerely felt bad so her jump to poison him was well pretty vindictive.  And Grayson was smart to use a private internal motivation so well the writers took off with it. . .but i really do sense that the last few months of the show, there was  definite movement towards Barn being more attached and caring/careful about Julia.  .whether it's the actors or the writers moving someplace. . . it's all up for speculation. . .I was just glad, as i said, that Juliafiles had a quote from Frid discussing the Barnabas/Julia relationship, albeit short --

Now happy turkey day!
