...become a fan during the series original run?
...become a fan when it was in syndication?
...become a fan during the Sci-Fi years?
...become a fan thanks to the DVDs?
...become a fan thanks to the 91 revival?

I'm used to characters of the original series behaving in a certain manner. What if they turned some characters in to something completely different?

Then they would be different. ;) I know what you mean, though. I look at it this way - a remake or re-imagining wouldn't change the original series at all. The original will always be there to enjoy now thanks to the dvds, and it will remain unchanged and unaffected by any new DS. It isn't like something, say....the Star Wars prequels, [for example] where it ties directly into the original movies so that your viewing experience of the originals will change. The original DS and any remake/reimagining would be two very separate entities, so your viewing experience of the original show should not change at all because it hasn't changed. Hope that makes sense. :)

I became a fan through the MPI video tapes. My mom was a fan when she was a kid and our local video store had volumes 1-25 so I was hooked by age 12. I feel like the OG DS was great but the concepts and storylines overshadowed the production and acting. The 91 revival was great but cut short........We need a new DS that can incorporate the great storylines....the tortured vamprie....the lost love...barnabas/julia....quentin...traveling back in time....A new series well cast and given a chance to develop would be a sure hit.....I'm all for it

I became a fan during the Sci-fi channel period.

it got me through most of my senior yr of high school, i was out the first few weeks witha broken arm sustained in football practice.

i thought it was an interesting show, i caught up with it mid 1841PT and went through the cycle up until middle of the Leviathans then they took it off the air.

it was a cool show and really hope they attempt another remake/revival

One good thing I will say about a remake, it might give them some added impetus to get House of Dark Shadows and Night of Dark Shadows out on DVD.

A sequel series not a remake (retelling).    At this point it, with that kind of remake, it would be the third time now.    that was the monumental mistake with 1991.    It was as if DC used all the money and support to change history (!) and remake the original DS story into something much more polished, something that could replace the original in his legacy, or something (fixing it maybe), instead of looking ahead, and building on the tradition, with new stories that still connect with the old ones, but not in a way that woluld confuse new viewers.

I don't know what the recent pilot was like.
