The answer to this question is complicated for Ode to Angelique.  An arrangement of the tune plays as a cue for the early glimpses of life in the Parallel Time room in episodes that aired in February of 1970.  In March we first heard the Bruno Hess version on a phonograph record that Hoffman tricked Maggie into purchasing for Daniel.  Shortly thereafter, we hear Bruno playing it (for the first of MANY occasions) on the piano in the cottage.

As for Quentin's theme, I believe it was first heard playing from Quentin's gramophone in December of '68.

Hopefully others can give you specific day/month/year dates and episode numbers.

Best, Steve

Hi Darren, just to add an important note, "Quentin's Theme" was originally written for the Dan Curtis production of "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" with Jack Palance, which aired  more or less a year prior to it's use on Dark Shadows. The arrangement was different, more "cockney" fiddles. You can hear it in the dance hall scene with Billie Whitelaw.  [gorgeous] (I am never sure to blame Cobert or Curtis for all the music recycling in the various Curtis productions, but honestly it was probably Dan)

Wow Darren!  Glad to hear this set is still in the works and that you conducted an interview with Bob Cobert himself!

Golly, what's the scoop on the DS music CD set?

I already have 7 or 8 CDs of DS music, but why not get more??

Hey, Darren, I've been pestering MPI for almost 2 years about the upcoming CD release of all of Cobert's DS music cues. I even joined the DS MPI DVD club just for those CDs.  (Yes, I can get the DVDs cheaper at Amazon, but the CD set was only promised to club members!)  Do you have any idea when we'll finally have the chance to buy this set?

Thanks,  Brian

Gee, why does this sound familiar?   ::)

I'd like to see a soundtrack for the NBC show's music.   ;)

It's supposed to be about 7-8 CDs of every one of the 300+ cues written for the series, presented in cue order with cue #s, including all variations and alternate unused takes. It's a huge amount of music as one can imagine and has taken a great amount of time to clean up and remaster.

I'm told they're trying to get it done for the fest but as that's just over a month away, I'm a little doubtful. Should be very soon.

I think the plan is now to sell it outright, instead of offer is as a DVD club premium. And it'll be in the $70-$100 range with a booklet with an interview with Cobert and probably some other notes.

Wow!  That sounds amazing!  I really look forward to that!

BuzzH, I also would like a CD of the '91 series music.  Some of the '91 series themes, along with loads of other great Bob Cobert horror film music, appear on the CD "Night Stalker and Other Classic Thrillers" -
