An event at Greystone

An unusual drama recently premiered at Greystone in Beverly Hills (Collinwood in 1991 DS) which many of us visted last summer.  "THE MANOR" purports to tell, in fictionalized form, the tragic and scandalous story of the Doheny--Plunkett murder/suicide.   The audience moves along in the corridors of the mansion to follow the actors as they perform the different scenes.  Since the public is not usually permitted indoors, this is a rare treat indeed, and I envy anyone in that area who attends.  Information and reviews available at this site:

P.S., one of the pictures in the little slide show of the mansion interior on their homepage feaures the new Alec Newman/Barnabas portrait that would have been used in the 2004 DS.

Jean Claude, you're a man after my own heart.  I just picked up The Poe Shadow by Matthew Pearl because I thought a book about the final days of EA Poe sounded fascinating enough and was tickled to learn that the young lawyer investigating his death is named (cue:  bum bum BUM) Quentin.

Hmmmmm....GMTA!!!  My husband picked that book up yesterday!!  However, he has 6 other books to read before THAT one so I might read it first....

How intriguing.  Have any other photographs of this Barnabas portrait been published?

It looks as if this incarnation would have been the most Byronic Barnabas yet... glad to see they finally got the hair and clothes right for the 1790s... (although I'm a huge fan of the actual series' OTT let's-go-rococo version of 1795).
