DS 2012 Cameos
« on: July 19, 2025, 10:56:15 PM »
A recent post by Uncle Roger in one of the Games Child Boards got me to thinking about the cameos in Depp Shadows. Has any info ever been shared on who was asked to do cameos other than the obvious four? Were there any? And if it should tickle your fancy, any musings on who you might have put in a role or would have created a cameo for? I imagine this was discussed ad nauseam back in the day but I have no memory of any of it. I don't remember who was still alive from the original in 2012.

My first thought was Marie Wallace as Mrs. Johnson. I wonder if she would have taken it, if offered?

I guess the party would have been the best place to fill a scene with cameos of the surviving members of the original series.

The ideal cameo for John Karlen would have been as a bartender at The Blue Whale. Perhaps Nancy Barrett and Jerry Lacy could have Maggie's parents. The most economical way of getting the alumni in the movie would have been to have them represented by portraits.
Maybe the library could have copies of Angelique's Descent or some of the Pomegranate Press catalog.

What a great topic, dom!!

I imagine had the movie been filmed in the US we may have gotten more original series actor cameos.

I'm sure that they would have recruited Joan Bennett. If she had agreed to do Suspiria for the trip to Italy, she probably would have done this.

She could have played Elizabeth's mother's ghost.

You know, a portrait of Joan anywhere on set as an ancestor would have been a touching nod. Or a gallery room of several OS cast members as ancestors would have been really cool too.
