ShadowGram (SG), The Official Newsletter & News Source for Dark Shadows (DS), announces the following breaking news.
**** DARK SHADOWS 40th ANNIVERSARY WEEKEND UPDATE
Preparations are being finalized for the upcoming 40-year celebration of DS, to be held Aug. 25-27 at the New York Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge Hotel, 333 Adams St.
As previously announced on this Updates List and in SG #107 print issue, confirmed guests include David Selby, Lara Parker, John Karlen, Kathryn Leigh Scott, Jerry Lacy, Nancy Barrett, Marie Wallace and Diana Millay. More guests will be announced soon, along with specific events to take place. These include dramatic performances and special screenings, in addition to guest question-and-answer sessions, autographs, new DS merchandise for sale, and much more.
**** SG Premiere Announcement - Fest Updates
--- Fri., Aug. 25 Day Trip: The Fest is sponsoring a visit to the South Street Seaport Museum in lower Manhattan. Buses will leave the Brooklyn Marriott at 11am and return at approximately 3pm, before the Fest officially opens that evening. The cost of the trip is only $18 per person. This includes transportation and admission to the Museum. The Museum focuses on nautical aspects of New York and New England, which played into themes and storylines covered in DS.
John Karlen (Willie, Carl, William H. Loomis, Desmond, Kendrick, HODS' Alex), will join the fans on this expedition to the Seaport, which has a variety of shops, restaurants and other tourist attractions.
PLEASE NOTE: Please do not send any payments to the Fest until this SG Online Updates List announces prices for convention memberships and for the Banquet With the Stars on Sun., Aug. 27. A postal mailing is in process in which fans will receive information for sending in payments for the activities mentioned above. Although the convention will be taking place at the NY Marriott at the Brooklyn Bridge, that hotel now is sold out of sleeping rooms at the discounted Dark Shadows rate. However, the nearby New York Marriott Financial Center Hotel - only 2 quick subway stops or a 5-minute taxi ride from the Brooklyn Marriott - now is serving as the official overflow hotel for fans in need of sleeping rooms at a reduced rate.

**** PRE-BARNABAS EPISODES - DVD RELEASE UPDATE
SG #107 print issue and SG List Update #149 premiere-announced MPI Home Video's expected release of the final series episodes, plus bonus materials (to be announced), on DS DVD Volume 26, due out in September, 2006. The pre-Barnabas episodes are anticipated for DVD release from in February, 2007.
Plans call for the pre-Barnabas episodes to be "an exclusive offer to members of the MPI DS DVD Club." To join the Club, go to

**** NEW DS AUDIODRAMAS PRESS RELEASE
SG #107 and this SG Updates List made the premiere announcement of the upcoming series of new original audiodramas, to be recorded by the DS actors and produced by Big Finish Productions of Great Britain. The first of these CD releases should debut at the August Fest. Following is a press release from Big Finish Productions. Confirmed developments will be announced on this SG Updates List and in SG #108 and future SG print issues.
Dark Shadows - The U.S. Horror Soap Opera Is Reborn On Audio
Inspired by books, regular DVD releases and an active fandom, Dark Shadows will celebrate its 40th Anniversary in 2006 with a series of all-new audio dramas on CD.
For 40 years, Dark Shadows has entertained audiences with supernatural intrigue and gothic romance. The classic US daytime drama featured vampire Barnabas Collins and his ancestral home Collinwood, cursed across three centuries.
Big Finish Productions have been granted a licence by Dan Curtis Productions, Inc, the first of its kind, to make these original full-cast audio drama productions, featuring new music and sound effects alongside classic Dark Shadows compositions from Emmy-nominated composer Robert Cobert.
Four original stories will be recorded this summer, featuring members of the original cast reprising familiar roles. The first two CDs will be launched at the 2006 Dark Shadows 40th Anniversary Celebration, which will be held in Brooklyn, New York. The CDs will subsequently be made available by mail order and through retail outlets.
"It is bittersweet that, on this 40th anniversary of Dark Shadows, we have just lost the mastermind behind Collinwood and its characters, creator-producer Dan Curtis," comments Jim Pierson, Marketing Director for Dan Curtis Productions. "Dan knew that his legacy of gothic mystery and magic would live on. He greatly loved his original group of actors and it is truly fitting that they are helping to continue his Dark Shadows dream."
Big Finish Productions produce fantasy and science fiction drama for a number of licensed properties, including Doctor Who, The Tomorrow People and Sapphire & Steel. "I'm delighted that Big Finish is able to add Dark Shadows to its range of audio dramas," said Jason Haigh- Ellery, MD of Big Finish and co-producer of Dark Shadows. "We are making sure that these new audios cab be enjoyed by listeners new to Dark Shadows as well as long-time devotees of the original TV series."

The producers of Dark Shadows for Big Finish are Stuart Manning and Jason Haigh-Ellery. Darren Gross serves as Script Editor. Executive Producer for Dan Curtis Productions is Jim Pierson.
**** PAUL MICHAEL STARS IN NEW TV MOVIE
Paul (Gypsy King Johnny Romano) co-stars with his long-time companion, actress MARION ROSS ("Happy Days," "Brooklyn Bridge") in the new family movie "Where There's A Will."
It premieres on the Hallmark Channel Sat., May 6, at 9:00 pm, then encores at 11:00 and at 1:00 am on Sun., May 7, with a repeat on Thur., May 11, at 9:00 pm.
Paul is "Wheeler Darden," who courts his neighbor "Leslie Clyde Onstatt," played by Marion. He proposes marriage at the same time that her "ne'er-do-well" grandson arrives to become her caretaker. The movie explores sensitive questions and issues about family relationships, independence, responsibility, and love.

But I love it. It's what makes me jump out of bed in the mornings."
