I’ve been talking the last story line slowly, but I was watching #1218 thinking I like bramwell’s mother’s acting and character when the next episode rolled around.  Quite a surprise to me #1219 is lost.

Haven’t read the robservations yet, but it was interesting watching and made me curious about the origin airing and how the lost episode got lost and reassembled.

Okay read the Robservations.

Interesting the audio for some or all of it came from an audio tape.  Reminds me of the lost Dr. Who episodes.

Still curious if there’s more details as to what happened to the originals and the behind the scenes process of saving what they could.

Relate to my earlier post.  I’m sure I’m not the only one who noticed Mom Bramwell looks more like Angelic than Josette.  Did that spark any intrigue in fandom?

A lot more than that episode were either damaged and or lost.  They were replaced with kinescopes that had been sent off to other time zone and countries that didn’t have the ability to record a program over the air and then show it at a later time. They stopped doing this for the later episodes after technology caught up in places like Alaska. I remember reading an article about it, but can’t remember when or where. I think there is an explanation by Lara Parker on the DVD about that episode.

The audio for episode came from Josette Kernaghan from Canada. She was blind and recorded the show on audio for her own enjoyment. She generously contributed a copy that was used in the reconstruction of the episode. Josette attended several conventions in the early days. Sadly, she passed away in 2022.

I believe that her birth name was Wendy but she was known in fandom as Josette.

Neat info  [easter_smiley]
Sad that she’s passed away, but cool she’s been able to be a part of the fan community and contribute too the rebuild episode.

The fandom name makes sense, Uncle Roger.  But, since you said she was Canadian, I thought perhaps French Canadian and that it was really her name.

The stars TRULY aligned that we have the lost episode's audio preserved! Such a heartwarming story the fans were able to connect so many decades after the show aired so that it could be included in the home video releases. AND for it to be such a pivotal episode, reinforces the power and love the fandom has for the show. 😍

It always bugged me Angelique's intro episode was a kinescope! Like someone at the studio took the master tape home with them because it was such a great episode! At least we have those! I've been watching alot of British shows from the 60s and early 70s, and some of those shows episode tapes were routinely erased and recorded over by the BBC due to the cost of the  tapes back then! And are sadly lost forever... Crazy stuff.
