HOUSE CALL
« on: April 21, 2002, 04:15:28 AM »
Here is a list of DS Doctors. Which in your opinion had the BEST bedside manner? ;)

Dr Julia Hoffman (known for her tranquilizer distribution program)

Dr Dave Woodard  (a martyr for the cause)

Dr Eric Lang (a specialist in body parts)

Dr Thornton (a conservator of leeches)
It is a good day because I am still ticking!

Definetely Julia Hoffman. She was always good at getting to the bottom of mysterious illnesses that crept up in Collinwood. [thumb]

Dr. Woodard (Robert Gerringer) the second one, wasn't too bad, he just spent too much time thinking & not enough doing. [hdscrt]

Dr.Lang, seemed more like a mad scientist  to me.[crazd]

Dr Thorton, no way,  too primitive.

While I loved our lady Julia, the doc on this list with the best bedside manner was Dr. Woodard.  He always reminded me of a kindly country doctor, knew all his patients, made house calls, and probably delivered you, too.  I bet he delivered Maggie!

Julia had her excellent moments, but Doc Woodard fit the bill for this question the best, IMHO.

Love, Robin

I have to go with Dr. Woodard (as played by Robert Gerringer). Very kind and dedicated to his patients.  It's a shame that when Gerringer left the role was so terribly miscast.  In my opinion, it greatly lessened the impact of Woodard's death.

Of course, I can only vote for Dr. Julia. She may not have the best bedside manner, but she did have access to the best patients--Barn, Tom, Chris, Joe, Willie.  ;)

Honorable mention to Dr. Woodard (Gerringer.)

my number one pick is  Dr. Julia Hoffman.  Always seemed dedicated to getting down to the roots of the illnesses that plaqued Collinwood.  [thumb]

Only one I would want anywhere near me would be Dr. Woodard.

Julia's loyalties were all over the place and I'm sorry, but I want a doctor who gets the concept of the hippocratic oath.  Lang is a whack job--I wrote a fanfic where he got disposed of much sooner and it was quite cathartic to write.  The rest of the them were just sort of there.

As much as I adore Julia, it certainly isn't as a doctor. I wouldn't have wanted to be under her care at Wyndcliffe at all, though I might have been holding out my hand for a pill later on.

My vote has to be for Dr. Woodard. I love him, love his looks, his caring, his voice. I only wish they had kept him on much longer.

It was Robert Gerringer's decision to leave the show when he did. It was because he would not cross the picket line of the AFTRA strike that went on at the time.  He was a union man.  The other actors decided not to join in the strike.

lets see....it sure as heck wouldnt be dr. hoffman......didnt she "pronounce" liz dead, even though liz had told everyone that she would seem dead, but still be alive, but tossed her in the coffin anyway....after one of the "experiments" didnt she declare carolyn dead?...and didnt she conclude both adam and barnabas were dead, when both were still alive, actually buried B alive? yes, nicholas may have had something to do with carolyn being revived, but still, thats not a good track record  :o
its a sudden death that i know, my father wrote me to say that, my cousin, uncle jeremiah was, was very disturbed.

Well since I'm about to see Dr. Lang in action, I'll just make comments about Julia and Woodard.

Julia- As a person I like her best, but as a doctor I couldn't trust her. What if Barnabas for some reason wants to kill one of her patients?

Woodard- The first episode I saw was where he died, so I never saw Robert Gerringer as Dave. From what I saw of him he was dedicated to helping people and I think I would trust him best.

From what I've read on Dr. Lang...umm...if he was my doctor I'd rather cut my arm off then have him do it for me. When did Dr.Thornton appear on the show? I'm wondering since Dr. Thornton was the name of the doctor who treated Barnabas after his 'choking spell' (No pun intended). Was that him?
