From what I understand, 6 scripts were commissioned for the '04 revival series. I don't know if that number includes the pilot, but 6 or 7 scripts would make for some nice reading wouldn't it? If those scripts were actually written, I'd love to see them published as a book. Anybody know if those scripts were ever completed?

Unfortunately not.

6 were never officially commissioned. A writer or two were talked to that might have come aboard but nothing else was written, though they had a strong sense of where it would go in the first part of the season. They went from first draft to start of shooting so quickly, its not surprising. There would have been no time to write them.

There were 3 drafts of the pilot script- a longish first draft (67 pgs I think), then a polished cut down, then one cut down further to fit the 45min time slot requirement which was used for shooting, but tha's it!

It would be nice to have fans of Dark Shadows have an opportunity to see the completed script. It is part of our history. I heard nothing but good things about Mark Verheiden's script. It would provide a better opportunity to see, in print, Verheiden's re-imagination of DS. It's not Mark's fault that the WB managed to sabotage his efforts to show on film a modern version of a new DS world. Perhaps Verheiden remains open to another DS project. Of course we have a great screen writer on this  forum board who could write a brilliant new DS script. He is very close by. lol
