The BBC has been doing this for years with the Doctor Who cast.  There are audio CDs out there of radio dramas based on the TV series.  At least there's still a lot of the DS gang around, and future stories could use actors who had mostly supporting roles on the show in new lead parts.  For instance, I'd love to have a new "Phoenix" story about one of Laura's previous lives, or a Quentin story taking place between 1897 and 1969.  Or brief vignetttes about the lives of characters and events only alluded to in the series.  Here's an idea: a drama about Jenny Collins' confinement after the birth of her twins- a perect opportunity not only for Marie Wallace, but for Terrayne Crawford, Roger Davis, and John Karlen in their 1897 characters as Beth, Dirk, and bro-in-law Carl deal with Jenny's insanity.

Another great link to add to my DS fansite, and I'm absolutely thrilled!   8)   ;D   [cheer]

I'm just mad about radio theater, enjoyed performing it myself years ago, and the concept of this challenging medium being revitalized and by DS stalwarts...it'll be like Christmas in summer for me!   ;D

Are these going to be recreations of episodes adapted for audio or are there new storylines?  Any idea whether some of the Old Guard from any of the series or movies will be participating?

This is just boss!!

This is very, very cool.

My hopes....

1.) Jonathan Frid lending his marvelous vocal talents
2.) Really good, well-written storylines
3.) Possible tying up of loose ends from the classic series, but with a focus on new storylines
4.) The return of characters and supernatural threats from the classic series
5.) The unique blend of character-driven fantasy, terror, romance, suspense and gothic horror that makes DS what it is
6.) I'd love to hear a well-done mummy storyline done in DS style  :)

How would people feel about new actors taking on the roles of actors who have passed on?  While I
identify the original actors with the roles, imagine new stories with Stokes, Julia, Roger, Petofi, Liz, etc.  However, it'd
be really strange to hear new voices playing those roles interspersed with the original actors.  Hmmm...

Also, are these continuations of "Return To Collinwood" or is this something completely new and standalone?

I have high hopes for these, and with Stuart, Darren and Jim Pierson involved, I'm sure they'll be really cool.

I would be okay w/this if the voiceover artist did a good 'impression' of the late actor (i.e. a good choice for this would be this fan named Darryl Shaeffer--he does the BEST impressions of the actors in their DS roles!  His Barnabas is killer!)

From the article:   Four original stories will be recorded this summer, featuring members of the original cast reprising familiar roles. The first two CDs will be launched at the 2006 Dark Shadows 40th Anniversary Celebration, which will be held in Brooklyn, New York. The CDs will subsequently be made available by mail order and through retail outlets.

I totally love it! There's quite a slew of new DS stuff coming out this year, it's fantastic. I can't wait to get my hands on these.

I'm only hoping the cast list expands, the more original cast members the better!

OH MY GODDESS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the BEST DS thrill I've had since meeting John Karlen again at the 2004 Fest.... :D

I absolutely LOVE the concept of audio productions!!  If ever there was a perfect vehicle for it, it's DS, with its mystery and horror undercurrents.

I am not collecting the DVD's .....but I will be standing on line for these newly produced CD's!!

What fun!  Being the Board Grump when it comes to new product, nobody will be surprised to hear me complain that I wish they had gotten the rights to Bob Cobert's original score... now, THAT would have given it that DS feel!  Still, this sounds as if it will be a lot of fun.

Am I the only one mildly hysterical to see that episode four is written by a gentleman named Scott WOODARD!

Julia... remember somebody...

Vengeance draws near, indeed!
