"* Epix has released a full trailer for Chapelwaite, based on Stephen King’s short story Jerusalem’s Lot. The series, starring Adrien Brody and Emily Hampshire, premieres Sunday, Aug. 22 at 10/9c."

I loved Jerusalem’s Lot when I read it back in the day. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing with regard to this new series based on it because if I've loved something by Stephen King when I read it, I tend to dislike an adaptation of it. But I will keep an open mind. The trailer certainly looks like it has potential...

Same here, MB. I've enjoyed reading Stephen King for years but I have usually been extremely disappointed in most of the film and television adaptations.

It looks interesting.  Unfortunately, to demonstrate how completely ignorant of all this latest stuff like "streaming" and other some-such, I have absolutely no clue what "Epix" is.  Does anything air on plain, regular apparently out-dated and out-moded TV anymore?  Even such previous wonders like cable and satellite seem like un-trendy relics of the past. Just a few years ago blu-ray became all the rage and those with dvd players (or even video players) were instantly left in the dust.  A friend of mine is one of those that runs out and buys the latest tech toys (he could use all the rapidly changing versions of cellphones - from the first pull-out antenna models to the absolute latest smart contraption that does it all from setting his home thermostat to replacing all his cash and credit cards with a swipe over a scanner - that he purchased to brick his walkway) told me that blu-ray is now only for the nostalgic.  Everyone only streams and/or downloads into "the cloud."  No more discs - it's all swipe-and-tap.

I guess for me I just have to get use to spending the rest of my life watching my dvd's and video cassettes and still listen to music on ancient cd's.  I even have records and cassettes and working machines that will play them.  Maybe I'll even find something to watch on regular TV, still aired at nine o'clock eastern, eight o'clock central (my set is 20 years old).

Hey, you kids, get off of my lawn!

I saw the trailer tonight on "regular TV" and was intrigued from what I saw before I even knew what it was - something about a coffin and maybe a man standing near it reminded me of DS - and that was before the notice that the actor is Adrien Brody and that it was something by Stephen King. I was wondering, too, how one might see it as I had never heard of Epix (a cable channel I don't have?), and now I read here about it and found that it's based on a "short story" of King's called "Jerusalem's Lot"? I hadn't heard of that either ... I'm assuming it was a precursor to the novel. I'll probably wait for the DVD ...

Jerusalem's Lot first appeared in a collection of Stephen King short stories called Night Shift. It's been years since I read it but it's basically the back story of the house and the adjacent town and the evil that has been there for centuries. Vampires appear but they're not the only creatures around. There's something that appeared in Lair of The White Worm, originally written by Bram Stoker, that turns up but they may not have the budget for that.

WHAT TO WATCH:

Chapelwaite (Sunday, 9/8c, Epix): In the creepy but slow-burning adaptation of a Stephen King story, Charles (Adrien Brody) worries that he’s losing his mind when he keeps hearing rats—or something—scurrying behind the walls of his inherited estate. When he visits a local asylum to see if his madness might be inherited, he gets an earful about “vermiphobia,” the excessive fear of worms. That can’t be good.
