Should we consider this title the power of DS' name recognition:

Geoffrey Scott, 'Dynasty' and 'Dark Shadows' Actor, Dies at 79

Don't get me wrong, it's wonderful, if such a thing is possible in an obit, to see DS mentioned, but DS is hardly one of his best credits. And out of respect for his passing that's about all I'll say in that regard...

My sympathy to his family.

He wasn't the best actor on Dark Shadows but he was young and fairly inexperienced. He did have one of the most prolific careers among the DS alumni. Perhaps he was easy to work with and well liked in the industry.

But I'm sure that even Mr. Scott would have gotten a kick from the posting from a lady who said how much she loved him as Matt Houston.

Well, unlike most of the DS alumni, he was only in one storyline .. and it wasn't very good.  So I don't hold that against him. It was pointed out in the variety obit, Dark Shadows was his first acting role.  I never watched Dynasty but did like him as the quarterback in 1st and Ten with Delta Burke. And as fans of Cannon, Josette and I liked him as the doorman in a few episodes.

A love letter to Geoffrey Scott:

Scott himself said in his interviews (which you can watch on you tube) that he wasn't very good in DS. Like so many, he had a lot of problems with getting the lines and blocking down on such a tight schedule.

SHADOWGRAM – THE OFFICIAL DARK SHADOWS NEWS ONLINE UPDATES
FRIDAY, 03-05-2021 * SHADOWGRAM UPDATE # 443

GEOFFREY SCOTT IN MEMORIAM

It is with sadness that ShadowGram reports the passing of actor Geoffrey Scott, who portrayed
Sky Rumson, husband of Angelique, on Dark Shadows in 1970 during the Leviathan storyline.

Scott was born on February 22, 1942 in Los Angeles and began his acting career with DS,
followed by another daytime drama, Where The Heart Is in 1972.  During his days in New
York, he also appeared on stage with DS co-star Lara Parker in the musical Lulu.

Returning to Los Angeles, Scott became most famous with a two-year run on the primetime
serial Dynasty in the 1980s. He also co-starred in the series Cliffhangers and made guest
appearances on numerous programs such as Murder She Wrote, Murphy Brown, Adam-12,
Barnaby Jones, Night Court, Cannon, Fantasy Island, She's The Sheriff and Battle of the
Network Stars.  Scott was also a regular on the HBO comedy First & Ten.

Additionally, Scott was seen in dozens of television commercials, most notably as the
Marlboro Man in advertisements for the cigarette brand.

His television film and motion picture credits include The Morning After, River of No Return,
Concrete Cowboys, The Dark Side of Innocence and The Hulk.

Scott passed away on February 23 in Colorado where he had spent his retirement years
enjoying skiing. He is survived by his wife and twin sons.

Although his schedule never allowed him to attend a Dark Shadows Festival, Scott did
participate in a video interview which can be seen as a bonus feature on the Dark Shadows
Collection 19 DVD release from MPI Home Video.

Sad news to read of both men's deaths so close together. I think Mr. Scott would have matured as an actor if he had returned in other parts on the show as Chris Pennock did. Both did skillful acting in many other roles, too. Mr. Pennock seemed a relaxed and friendly, outgoing man at the Festivals.
