Violet Welles Interview

For those who haven't seen it, here is the only interview I have ever been able to find with DS writer Violet Welles. I consider her and Joe Caldwell the most talented and distinguished of all the people who wrote for the show.

I remember reading this interview back in TWoDS. I wish there were more interviews with her.
Each of the DS writers had their strengths, and I agree that Welles and Caldwell were especially fantastic.
Violet had a great talent for dialogue, and I especially love the way she wrote Angelique during the 1897 storyline.

A quick Google search came up with a very impressive list of credits for Violet Welles as press representative for many Broadway and Off Broadway shows, both before and after her time on Dark Shadows. But imdb only lists a writing credit for DS. I wonder what other soaps she wrote for and if she only "ghosted" for Gordon Russell.

The 1897 storyline wouldn't have been half as great as it was without the talents of Violet Welles...

Ms. Welles must be quite a character herself ... how interesting that she hadn't trained to be a script writer but she had the skills to work with its demands and strictures, plus had the talent to add a great deal to the characters, her strong suit ... and it was encouraging to read that, despite the laughs and madcap nature of working on the material, the writers experienced a synchronicity with the material, and became intensely involved with DS's world and its reality, which they were themselves creating.
