Frank Langella’s Dracula Returns, Colorfully And Less So

Says the film as a "Dark Shadows vibe".

And even though it makes several changes from the book, I quite enjoy this version. I own the original DVD release but I might consider buying this Blu-ray just to see the desaturated version that John Badham would have preferred.

I found the depiction of vampires to be somewhat contradictory. Frank Langella looks like he stepped off the cover of a romance novel. And poor Mina looks, as Elvira once said about vampire Carolyn, like they slapped a bunch of Gold Medal flour on her face.

[pointing-up]  [hall2_grin]  But when it comes to contradictory depiction of vampires, nothing could be more contradictory to what came before than DS' own 1840 vampire Roxanne!! Blue?! Why?! Well, other than the make-up guy wanted to put his own stamp on things -

- though the even more contradictory thing is that Roxanne wasn't blue -

- on the night she first rose...
