Ep 1230...WT...
« on: October 23, 2019, 03:13:47 AM »
I'm watching the E N D of DS.

Episode 1230...what the hell is the matter the camera/lights?

Shoot to Julia, purple/green, to Quentin, normal, fleshtone, then to Catherine, back to Quentin, normal.

They I believe were using 2 different cameras...was one of the cameramen on LSD?

NEXT....just started watching Ep 1231......GGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Why would Brutus Collins be at Collinwood when it did not exist for more than 100 years!?!?

Thanks for letting me vent,

Patti

When I was in college, I bought quite a few DS audio tapes. 1841PT always intrigued me. I wanted to hear Frid and Parker in new roles for a change. I loved the story, but the PT concept really bugged me. It seemed to make some sense in 1970. The choices we make in this "time band" might be different from those in another, and so different versions of ourselves existed. I assumed that '70 Quentin was the grandson of PT 1897 Quentin. You had different versions of the family, but they were also familiar and it made sense if you viewed them as people who led different lives.

Then you get to 1841. Why is there a Julia? She's not the counterpart of Dr. Hoffman. There was no Julia in the family. Why was Justin the head of the family? Shouldn't it have been Daniel? Shouldn't Justin's descendants look entirely different? Is it fated that there will be a Quentin and Gabriel, even if they have a different father?

The history of Collinwood and perhaps even Collinsport seems to be totally different. The house is much older. How far back does the Old House go? Why does the family resemble the one we saw in the 1840 story if their pasts are so different.

It made no senses, so I went with the flow. I enjoyed the story very much. Morgan seems much more powerful and charismatic as a disembodied radio voice. The fact that my tapes from that period high quality compared to much of the rest of the episodes also helped. The 1897 shows were recorded mostly by putting a mike to the speaker. Annoying hiss and other background sounds marred the quality. The later tapes were almost certainly recorded by splicing the input wires to the speaker to get a direct, high quality sound. Other background noises were totally absent. They were almost as good as the ones I had on VHS or DVD.

I hope you enjoy the rest of the story.

Oh with regard to the cameras, I think there were times when one of them was on the fritz. I seem to recall a time in 1897 where we were getting similar glitches. I guess it was a consequence of the minuscule budget.

I forgot to mention that PT Quentin and Gabriel had TWO totally different parents. Flora is their mother in PT as opposed to having one son in the "real timeline,' Desmond. "Our" Quentin and Gabriel had Daniel's late wife Harriet as their mom. So again, it made no sense that the two pairs would be parallels of each other. I do concede that they always reused the same actors in every story, but in this case you had the same two guys playing the same brothers with the same names. It seems to contradict the "rules" implied by the 1970 storyline.
