Well, Roger wasn't exactly Ward, but let's face it:  after putting David through hell and back, in the end of every situation, he came through for his son.

As for Herman, who wouldn't want to have a dad like that?  As he bumbled through things with Eddie (and as a surrogate father to Marilyn) he always came out on tops.  And while Eddie loved and respected his dad, he knew how to reign him in.  One of my favorite comedic moments was when the family discovered that Eddie's teacher and principal were coming to visit.  Eddie asked "pop" not to tell one of his goofy jokes.  Herman, befuddled, asked if he could tell a certain one.  Eddie responded:  "You tell that one and I'm running away from home."
