I think we all remember where we were, the day Richard Nixon addressed the UN, and made it all okay with the whole world, that we were in Vietnam. It was a total triumph for him, but then we all knew that. It almost eclipses the moon landing in our collective consciousness. From that point on, no one doubted that the war was a great thing.
