1960s Monster cards and DS bubblegum cards

A friend shared this link with me; fun stuff!

Besides mentioning the two series of DS gum cards, they mention cards that promoted several of our other favorites, such as the Universal horrors, Flash Gordon, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea, and the Addams Family!  (I love the "Lurch and Uncle Fester take it all!" card.)

I have always enjoyed the card sets. I have all 4 series of Dark Shadows card, pretty much complete, in the binder they sold for the "orange series" which was I think in 2001 NYC convention.  [book2]
The DS cards were generally done with relative taste and have some good photos, if not some retouching (obvious on several of the "pink cards" especially." Does anyone know how Topps designed the signatures, I ask because the Maggie Evans cards really look like KLS's handwriting, or was that coincidental?
I also admit to having both Planet of the Apes set, (I think there was a third series in recent years as well.)
I love the mention of the "You'll Die Laughing" cards. The jokes were so bad, we used to call them "You'll Die Reading" cards.    [tongue2]
