KLS Festival Remarks

Last year it seemed like JP was more and more involved in the retro music specials that PBS loves to run from T J Lubinsky. I can't say I've noticed if there have been any new ones this year. However, people might recall this post:

A, Uh, Unique Logo

from last December and the very strong suspicion that JP is behind it. If so, he's been a very busy boy there because that site is offering all sorts of merchandise now. So, if as we suspect, it is a JP operation, he may be devoting most, if not all of his time to it and has little interest in DS any more. Who knows?

Wow, MB, I'd totally forgotten about that logo business. But I just went to the site, and I'm not understanding how busy they could be. Or maybe they're super busy trying to nail down rights to properties, because almost all the categories have nothing available in them. As in, not listings saying "sold out", but no listings at all.

I didn't check all the categories (because there are so many) but when I clicked a few at random, they all had merchandise. That prompted me to assumed the others did as well. But I should know better than to assume. 

Also, the other day I didn't bother to check out the Facebook page. But I did just a few minutes ago and it seems to still be the case that the latest post there is the same one I mentioned back in December: one from October 17th of last year! (I hope no one has been holding their breath waiting for that promised big announcement because they would have turned blue in the face several times over by now!!)

So, maybe JP isn't being kept quite as busy with his presumed new venture as I might have thought the other day.

Lubinsky is supposed to be a major Dark Shadows fan. Portrait of Frid in the living room. Daughter named after Grayson Hall. So that certainly explains his connection to Pierson.

does anyone follow KLS's personal Facebook page?

this weekend she's put out a statement on potential future festivals or lack thereof. she says nothing's been planned for the year (which we pretty much knew) but curiouser and curiouser claims she is not in tough with Jim Pierson at all and is urging US the fans to "reach out to him" directly to plead the case.

It's my guess, michael c, that Pierson told her himself that he's just not interested.  She's been asking around for a while to find someone else that might take over and apparently finally decided to take it public via Facebook.  So yea, she's in touch with him.  And unhappy.

There will be something intimate for the documentary release, but I've resigned myself to having seen the last big event.

they've had a working relationship for over 30 years. i just couldn't buy the "not in touch" story. it smelled fishy.

The TJ Lubinsky fan page (!) currently has close to 20,000 followers. There's a sponsored link to the page that keeps turning up on my newsfeed about preserving the music of Perry Como. Hot Diggity, Dog Diggity, indeed.

and how is this Lubinsky person connected to DS or the festival again?
