India is probably my favorite of Marie's soap roles (I know, sacrilege - but it's true!). Unfortunately, though, it seems that Marie doesn't remember all that much about her time in the role. When I first met her at the Red Zone party in '89, I told her how much I loved her as India, so much so that (probably looking like an idiot*) I even quoted some of her dialogue back to her from a couple of India's biggest and best scenes ("I haven't just pulled the rug out from under you, my darling Chuck, I've pulled out the wall to wall carpeting!" (Chuck was her scheming husband)), but she didn't remember any of it. She said she learned the lines, but once everything was taped, she pretty much wiped things clean for the next ep. And that makes perfect sense. But it's too bad that she can't look back and relish those moments as much as her fans can. It's also too bad that she can't see some of her India stuff like she can with her DS work. I'm sure that not only would she find it a hoot, she'd even be impressed with the strong caliber of her own work...

(*Then again, maybe I didn't come off as all that much of an idiot because whenever Marie sees me at Fests, she always comes over to say hello because she remembers me. Maybe I made a better impression than I was afraid I had at the time...)

That's cool, MB. I've never heard of any video of Marie's work as India surfacing, but who knows.

Plus, the Pennock episode has a Prell commercial with Lara Parker.

Thanks so much for posting the links, The Doctor and K9!  [snow_smiley]

It's too bad the first clip doesn't have any voice, but it was still great to see Marie's India, dressed to the nines, of course, in diamonds. And it was also fun to see Georgann Johnson, who played India's sister Ellen, Ed Kemmer, who played Ellen's husband Ed, Alice Hirson, who played Marsha Davis (she's the blond lady who comes over to the table) and especially Edward Winter, who played India's soon to be scheming hubby Chuck Hillman (the man sitting at the other table). We even got brief bits with Gary Sandy as Randy Buchanan (the server with longish hair and wearing a red jacket) and who would go on to fame playing Andy Travis on WKRP in Cincinnati. What's funny, though, is I don't even remember that opening title...

The second clip is from the whole Jingles the Clown Murder Mystery. That was a great period on the show, though one wouldn't ever suspect it from that ep (what a drip that Carter, played by Jay Gregory, was!!). But OMG: Lara Parker's Prell commercial - I haven't seen that since 1972!!

And for those who may not realize it, the scene with Chris Pennock is between his character Dana Moore and his sister Andrea Moore. And others might be interested to know that the character of Tony Cooper was played by Ernest Thompson who's best known for writing On Golden Pond.

It's too bad neither of the clips feature Grayson Hall's Playtex commercial.

And no, I DO NOT have a one-track mind...

It has sound on my phone as well.

Maybe the computer I've been using today doesn't have the correct audio codec to decode the codec used for the file. But like I said, when I get a chance I'll try a different computer...

Thanks for the links to the clips. Hearing that corny organ music playing during Marie's Somerset clip makes me appreciate Robert Colbert's Dark Shadows orchestra music so much more.

I've discussed India Delaney with Marie a couple of times over the years. She said that she got along great with the two actors who played her husbands, Nicolas Coster and Edward Winter. She told me that Georgann Johnson, who played her Donna Reed type sister, was quite a demanding shrew offstage. Marie and a bunch of original cast members were written off the show around the same time when new writers took the show in a different direction. While her sister remained on the show for almost the rest of its run, India surprisingly never resurfaced, played by Marie or anyone else. She did send a hilarious postcard to someone at one point. It read: Having a wonderful time. Glad you're not here.
I think that she enjoyed the part and the soap but I know that things weren't the greatest for her in her personal life at that time. Her husband was seriously ill and passed away, so that may color her memories of the period.
