I'm glad it's received primarily favorable reviews. They all say that it's certainly not Citizen Kane, but it accomplishes with thrills, chills and social commentary what it intended to do. One called it a pro-woman film for the metoo generation. Others stated that it disregarded all the sequels (including the second one which included Curtis) and simply jumped ahead 40 years from the original classic which makes it work.
