Charmed Reboot Gets CW Pilot Order — What Changed From Last Year's Pitch?

Though apparently not everyone is happy:

It's interesting that all the original DS cast vocally supported the '91 Series (at least publicly - and quite possibly because many were hoping to get some of those promised guest spots that were supposedly going to be handed out to the original cast somewhere down the road) but the original Charmed cast has been against any sort of reboot since the get go. If this reboot actually does move forward, I guess none of them will be making guest appearances.

It's interesting that all the original DS cast vocally supported the '91 Series ....but the original Charmed cast has been against any sort of reboot since the get go. 

I think in the case of DS, the support came because the cast realized that almost 20 years had passed since DS ended. Many of the key actors were either too old or dead and would not be likely to be at the center of a new DS. In the case of Charmed, the actresses are relatively young and probably feel like a Charmed II or Charmed-The Next Generation with them playing key roles would be the way to go. I believe we could all be happy if Charmed TOS was reborn on something like Netflix as a limited series AND the new show got greenlighted. I don't know why it has to be an either/or proposition. It's probably because of rights, but I think that contracts could be written to allow for both.

I don't know which screams were louder, the original Charmed fans who are horrified that -

- or the Supernatural fans who are extremely disappointed that -

Though the Charmed fans haven't even seen the reboot yet, so they should try to keep an open mind. But then we know from DS fandom that just because some fans haven't seen something, that will never stop them from condemning it sight unseen. Just look back to the '04 pilot - and especially the '91 Series...

And of course, when it comes to the failure of the Supernatural spinoff to get picked up, DS fans can certainly empathize with their disappointment because we went through it with the '04 pilot...
