Barnabas, Tiny Tim and Arnold Ziffel

Barnabas, Tiny Tim and Arnold the Pig. It sounds like the Dream Curse on acid but these three 1960's celebrities were on the guest list at an auto show in Minneapolis in January of 1970/71, along with Pat Buttram and Miss Vicki, who was Mrs. Tim at that point. I know that Donna Wandrey has mentioned being at an auto show with Frid, Arnold and Mr. and Mrs. Tim but her name didn't appear on the somewhat cropped ad that I ran across. Frid was billed as Barnabas, which probably happened a lot back then. Oh, to have lived in Minneapolis back then to see the appearance of some of the 1960's major pop icons in the same place. I can only hope pictures of the auto show are out there somewhere. A shot of Frid with either Tim or Arnold (or both!) would be my DS Holy Grail. [santa_wink]

That's amazing, Uncle Roger.  Each was probably in their own space but just imagine if Bozo the Clown had appeared and led a hula hoop line dancing scene with all of them, while Tim strummed along "Tip Toe through the Vampires" on his ukulele.

With memories like this, who needs drugs??

But you certainly paint a mind-blowing, surreal picture!!  [santa_cheesy]

I posted this in another group and actually got a response from someone who actually went to the show. He pretty much confirmed the guest list with one additional guest that I didn't know about: former vice president Hubert Humphrey!  [santa_shocked] I hope that he follows up with pictures! Uncle Roger, that's amazing! With the addition of HH, it truly sounds like an episode from Gore Vidal's surreal novel DULUTH.

Happy Holidays!

If I ever see Donna Wandrey again, I'll ask her if this was the auto show that she appeared at. I remember at her first Festival appearance (Newark, 1984), she had the crowd roaring when she just read off the guest star. She seemed to have had a good sense of humor about the entire thing. According to Donna, Kate Jackson went to one shortly afterwards and her only comment was that it was interesting.

Happy holidays to you as well, Gothick!
