Dark Shadows was a good bit before those other shows he mentions together as being the "new" shows he was aware of, so I don't quite understand that.

I thought that, too, dom. Or maybe he was watching the original DS of Sci-Fi. Though one would think he'd notice the '60s and '70s copyrights at the end of most of the eps. But then, as a kid anyway, that guy was pretty clueless to swallow hook, line and sinker the things his father told him - so, if he saw them, maybe he somehow explained away those copyrights to himself...
