How quickly & conviently the Countess forgot to mention the secret panel today during the trial. ::) When questioned by the Rev.Trask about how Vicky could manage to be in "two places at once" to steal a book, Natalie just shook her head in agreement! Why just yesterday, her own niece managed to get out of that very same room while being guarded under lock & key. I found that strange  the Countess should forgot all about this secret panel, when just yesterday she ventured through it herself to search for Josette. ?!? Must be another one of those mysterious memory lapses. :o

I thought of that, too.  But, then I couldn't remember whose room the book had been in - was it Josette's or her aunt's?  If it was the Countess' room, then perhaps there's also a secret panel there, but she wouldn't know about it.

Hi Josette, The book was definetely in Josette's bedroom. I had gone back over my tapes just to be sure I wasn't dreaming. ?!? What I find even stranger is the fact that Vicky even knew of the secret panel?  :oWhen did she ever have any access to it during the show before she came to 1795? ::) And who on earth could have told her about it? She hadn't been at Collinwood that long. It seems to be another one of those "can't figure out" mysteries.  ;)

I thought too that the book was in Josette's room but during the trial, Natalie said it was in "her" room.  See. . the writers didn't envision VHS or reruns did they??

If you'll notice, that's Vicki's room at Collinwood that Josette was staying in. This is why she knew it "like the back of her hand." As for the secret panel, I'll go out on a limb and guess that little David showed Vicki the secret panel - he knew about all of them.

As for why the Countess "forgot" that Joshua had showed her the panel, I think the writers conveniently glossed over this little fact. On the other hand, it's possible that in her grief/delirium/obsession to make Vicki pay, the Countess chose not to reveal this tidbit of info. What mattered more was that Bradford had said Vicki was in jail at the time she appeared in Josette's room, thereby creating the "two places at once" theory regardless of how she entered and exited said room
